Hire Jim Click to replace Jeremy Zoll.

Click has a long record of success with good teams, including 15 years with the Rays where he spent a couple of years as Vice President of Baseball Operations, before he became General Manager of the Astros and won the World Series. He is now Vice President for Baseball Strategy with the Jays.

Zoll, in contrast, spent four years as an advance scouting coordinator with the Angels before being assistant director of player development for one year with the Dodgers, after which he worked his way up the ladder with the Twins.

In terms of experience, responsibility, and success, Click has it all over Zoll.

Sure, it's nice that the Pohlads like having long-term relationships with their executives and I'm willing to believe that Jeremy Zoll is a copacetic person to work with, but it's time to "go big" and get someone big to make a big upgrade to the quality of the organization.

Oof. That really is a trainwreck of an executive. IDK if he can accurately judge a player. I mean in that in all seriousness because in his time there, were there really any start developed players outside of Mike Trout, whom he didn't even scout?

Some of these posts are really bringing the incompetence of the Twins organization to light. This is definitely one of those situations

It's likely that the only player development decision that needed to be made about Mike Trout was "let's stay out of his way."

Well...theres that and the one where they chose not to build a team around the guy and expected him to carry them all the way to a World Series. The dude is going to go down as one of the greatest to never win a World Series because he chose club loyalty over Ring chasing, which I can completely respect. But could you imagine if he had an organization that build around him.

You mean like in 2015, when Trout had 9.3 fWAR and their second best hitter was Kole Calhoun and their best pitcher was Garrett Richards?

I don't know about replacing, but Zoll has said that he wants to add a senior executive with experience to the front office. Bobby Nightengale noted that about a week ago. I wouldn't be shocked if someone comes in at minimum as an advisor. We'll see who that is.

Zoll doesn't need an advisor, he needs a supervisor.

I know it’s easy to hate on him, but based on what?

His first true offseason without either major front office changes when there wasn’t an offseason much remaining, or an offseason with a cba ending, will be after the 2027 season? I mean, maybe he isn’t the guy for the job. But he hasn’t yet had a full offseason with ownership backing to show what types of moves he can make.

It has nothing to do with hating Zoll to say that Click's experience and accomplishments are way better.

GM of a baseball team, particularly one that has been one of the worst performing teams in the league, shouldn't be an on-the-job learning experience or an opportunity to show what you can do.

No but if you can communicate well, have an ownership group who openly supports you, and are comfortable being aggressive and creative, then maybe things can work.

I certainly didn't hate the trade deadline, other than I wished Larnach especially would have been moved. But I'm willing to do one more season. If it's another poor 2027 season (if there is a full season) then I have to think there will be a new ownership group at some point as well as a brand new front office no?

You can be at "maybe things can work," but I'm done with it. It's time to get some proven top people into the front office.

I just mean I don’t personally know Zoll

from anyone else. I’m willing to give anyone a shot if they actually show they can make bold and creative moves between now and December 1. Super short leash after that.

What has he done to earn the top spot.  He had minimal experience before joining the Twins front office.  He has been a key decision maker advising Falvey for at least the last 5 years and what success has the team had in that time or in his time with the organization.

It was understandable last year that Pohlad kept Zoll as the top guy, but he should have been ready to pull the trigger to hire a new GM or POBO at the end of the season.  The Twins need a fresh perspective and keeping the same structure in place isn't going to move this organization forward.

I know we can have opinions on this. But Tom is the owner of the team and already made his decision that he likes Zoll in that chair. Hopefully now they are aggressive and creative this offseason
