Good post, but don't scare me with the Mijares talk. The lack of his presence on the team has been my only silver lining for the last two years. I think you meant it sarcastically, but it WAS a good job by Terry Ryan to get rid of him, in my opinion. I wish Delmon would've charged our own dugout. That would have been something to behold!

I loved Morneau before his injury. I'd like to see him as a lifetime Twin. However, according to your fangraph analysis, paying $14 million for 2 years would be paying far too much, for a player that could be replaced by Mauer, Plouffe, Parmalee and Colobello.

I'm all for saving money if that resource will be applied in some better way to improving the team. Justin Morneau's OPS+ is right about league average, and that's nothing to sniff at. To just lose him, or trade him for a very mediocre prospect, doesn't seem right unless it's to free up the resource to do something really big.

Thanks! It's depressing looking at how many guys could easily be playing at AAA right now.

 

The Morneau situation is tough. I guess I hope the Twins get a surprisingly good prospect for him and all will be well.
