Yankee Dominance

The Yankees are officially in the Twins head...well, you could have said that years ago, but it's official. Alberto Del Rio Gonzalez with three RBI? Are you kidding me? Even without their regulars, the Twins still manage to get hammered by the Bronx Bombers...

I was at the game last night and there is no question about this. This is a poor Yankees team. They have one good player in Cano, one decent player in Gardner and a bunch of over-the-hill guys or never-wases in the rest of the lineup. If they went back to calling themselves the Highlanders we might be able beat them. They're in the fans heads as well. Everyone at the ballpark is lethargic. Once the Twins fell behind, the fans were all resigned to defeat (including myself). Maybe when we play the Yankees we should bring TK back to manage. In his 15 years he played close to .500 ball (.468) against them including 1991's 12 -2 record. If the Twins are going to win another pennant, we will need to beat the Yankees.

It is strange. Even in 2001, when the Yankees were AL champs and the Twins were only a surprise contender, TK managed a 4-2 record against them, winning the series in both NY and Minnesota.

But in 2002, Gardy took over, the Twins were no longer a surprise, and we went 0-6 against them, and the Gardy era Yankee futility began. I often blame the 2002 Mike Trombley game, which didn't help, but we had already been swept at home by NY the previous weekend, so it wasn't all Trombley's fault.

While I agree that the Yankees are in the Twins heads. It looks like the Blue Jays are, too.

From 2006-2012, the Twins were actually worse against the Jays (14-38) than against the Yankees (16-35). They had a good year against the Rays in 2006 (6-1) but were 16-27 against the Rays from 2007-2012.

It's gonna be a LLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGG 2 weeks.

Say what you want about the Yankees, but prior to that 6 game skid they were playing pretty good ball (with the same crappy lineup/rotation they have had all year)

It's no excuse for the Twins to lose, but its not like they are playing the Astros etc. They should have definitely won game 1 and should have been "in it" more in game 2.
