Caretaker article should be a place where only Caretakers can comment. Isn't that the point of Caretakers, to have a special place for them only?  Also, based on the recruitment for Caretakers it advertises articles by Parker Hageman and others. Looks to me like only Matthew Trueblood is delivering. If you want people to join, then truly make it their little club.

Anyone can comment but not read the article. I'm not interested in a conversation with someone who hasn't read the material.

The Josh Staumant pitch mix thread is a ton of excellent deep dive stuff but the conversation is overrun by discussion of where he fits on the 40 man. There is an article already posted for that.

Those posters that can't read the article are only going to discuss the information they have, not the information in that article.

Every caretaker article has this discussion in it so let's discuss it here.

Fire away.

As I mentioned in that Staumont article, I fired off a comment after reading only the teaser, not even realizing there was more content.

I come to almost all content via the site's Unread Content tool, which means everything is treated as being in a "Forum", so I don't see official articles in their "native" environment.  And every article, whether Caretaker or not, has "View full article" at the bottom, so I have trained myself to not even notice that as a cue there might be more (because with regular articles, there isn't).

Previously the site irritated non-paying readers with too much of an indicator every time that they were missing out on the good part of the content.  That's been fixed perhaps, but there's an equal and opposite problem.

I don't have a solution to propose.  But I admire the conundrum.  :)

Moderator Note:

You all have good points here, but if you want to discuss how and when and where content is pesented, you are better off starting a discussion in the TD Questions forum. Your feedback is always welcome but please don’t derail this discussion on the article itself and keep comments in this thread directly related toward that.

Thank you.

Squirrel - thanks for the link to TD questions. without this link I would not have ever know this place existed. Based on submittals, it looks like a place you send comments to die.  The Caretaker promises article by Parker Hageman and others. Looks like the others are Matthew Trueblood.  Matthew seems to be delivering. but Parker not so much.

This is from the Caretaker link:

  • Weekly deep-dive analysis from Parker Hageman and Matt Trueblood

I have considered the Caretaker route, but during the summer TD failed to deliver on the commitment stated above, I await a response in TD QUESTIONS from TD Owners/Leaders/Moderators. I think it is odd that Parker Hageman is not even listed as part of the TD staff.

Each Caretaker probably has their own reasons and reasoning, but I personally pony up because I believe in the site's mission.  Examining the Return on Investment in terms of caretaker articles is to me a bit like donating to NPR for the sweet, sweet tote bag they will send me as a thank-you gift.

We happened to have a brief discussion about this and while there's a lot more to talk about, small changes will be coming to how we manage caretaker content. Don't know when it will happen, though. This time of year has many of us pointed in different directions as we prepare for the Winter Meltdown, plan Spring Training, launch new features, etc.

Half of what gold caretaker is to be ad free.  The promise a more in depth article. Parker is the analytics techie guy. I am not sure who else writes “in depth” articles. I wouldn’t hazard a guess unless maybe Seth is writing up prospects

In most threads after 13-14 posts into the thread one does wonder if anyone read the article beyond the title

Yeah, I get that, but I currently have two platforms that do not display the ads, so I AM looking for the content promised,
