From the Yahoo page for the Twins (didn't dig into what the original source is):

"I feel really good right now. I feel fantastic for this opportunity and to get a chance in the major leagues. You have to stay focused on the strike zone."

—Pedro Hernandez on allowing just three runs and four hits with three strikeouts and three walks in five innings in his second MLB start Sunday.

Three walks in five innings is staying focused on the strike zone? Three runs in five innings makes a pitcher feel really good?

OK, making even a mediocre start is not something that the majority of human beings can do. But this interview snippet sounds like something out of the bus in the movie Bull Durham.

Hey, It was better than expected. That is the good side. Probably not going to get many more chances soon, but this one was not that bad. May turn out to be better than Henricks.

I have no complaint with his performance - not getting rattled by a few runs, and battling through to complete 5 innings, is important toward getting the most out of the bullpen, though 6 would have been even better. And since he's born in Venezuela, I'm certainly not making fun of any limitations he might feel in using English (and maybe his English is better than mine), if that had any bearing on what he chose to say in response to reporters. I dunno, the quote just seemed... odd. Maybe I'm just too used to cocky athletes.
