Garcia, Barraclough, Telis, Farrell, Gibaut were all good for the Saints last year I’d like at least some if these guys back. Manoah, and Cabbage both really good in the Twins system last year, Bray was really good in 2019 those three would be great to have back. Maybe Lujan, Watson, Whitefield, and Puentes would be nice to have back as well.
bean5302 Verified Member Posted November 9, 2021 Posted November 9, 2021 It's a little interesting not to see Palacios on the list. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/2021-22-minor-league-free-agents-for-all-30-mlb-teams/

Shaitan Verified Member Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Pretty sure Albers will be back. 10 or 15 more times.

Not sure if that's public yet, so shhhhhh....

Need those types in AAA. I would like to see Cabbage and Whitefield back. Also Manoah and Cabrera... and then just some more like Garcia and Farrell, etc.

Be interesting to see who is added to the 40-man. Former Twins (majors and minors) that made this list: Joe Beimel, John Andreoli, Pedro Florimon, Luke Westphal (Padres). Trevor Hildenberger, Matt Shoemaker (Giants). Moises Gomez (Seattle). Chris Mazza (Rays). Juan Graterol (Jays). Daniel Palka (Nats). John Hicks (Texas). Dusten Knight (Orioles). Stephen Gonsalves, Chris Herrmann (Red Sox), Tyler Ladendorf, Ian Miller, Marcus Walden (Cubs). Logan Morrison (Reds). Derrick Rodriguez (Rockies). Drew Butera (Astros). Marcus Solbach (Dodgers). Brian Navaretto (Miami). Keon Broxton, Blaine Hardy (Brewers). Vance Worley (Mets). Chase DeJong (Pirates). Brock Stasi (Phillies). Homer Bailey (Oakland).
Rosterman Verified Member Posted November 10, 2021 Author Posted November 10, 2021 Australian Andrew Whitefield signs with the Angels. He was only 24 but stuck in AA ball. Showed some stolen base skills.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 That was sure a depressing summary that showed all the players that played on the Twins this year that aren't even worth keeping for basically minimum money. Just ugly.

Truly remarkable how many of these I'd want back: zero!
roger Verified Member Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Interesting how sad it was when the Twins lost Rodriguez. Of this year’s crop, sad to see Cabbage and Whitefield. Hopefully Cabbage returns. Two names i was glad to not see were Palacios and Javier. See from above comment that Palacios has resigned with the Twins, but will now be Rule 5 eligible.

He'd be picked in Rule 5 guaranteed.

Just ugly. Minor league veteran free agent contracts can be really good, especially for former big leaguers. And this was definitely a case around baseball this year. With injuries and teams trying to figure out how to adapt to one less affiliate. The Twins and every other organization signed a lot of guys from independent leagues. And often, it's not that they don't want them back, just that they aren't an early-offseason priority. Obviously Palacios was a priority.

I mean, the Twins don't either, otherwise they would have kept them. And some have been gone for a long time. I would go after Chris Mazza and Stephen Gonsalves.

That said, for him (or Cabbage or Whitefield), the idea of signing a minor league deal early is that they can become Rule 5 eligible and get a shot at a 40-man roster spot if they are selected.

Thanks, Seth. Seeing the kid has been here seemingly forever, that is a surprise. This year was certainly a step forward for the young man, hopefully, next year will be another. He still has soooo much natural ability, would love to see him put it together and become that big shortstop the team has been without for a long, long time.

The key is that he stayed healthy most of the season, really just until about the final week or so. He got ABs. He got reps at SS... That's the positive. Needs another season of health to see if he can put up some numbers now.

I'm surprised to see Morrison and Worley are still playing. I know Morrison got some MLB time this past season, but neither struck me as grind-it-out-in-AAA personalities.
