Since consequences of team events do not count, does that mean that people shouldn't rip into Mauer for hitting into double plays?

 

Yes.

 

Unless you also want to complain about that Albert Pujols guy. He hits into double plays all the time.

Seth tends to be overly optimistic in general, so I'm bit surprised by these rankings to be honest. I think you make a strong case that a number of these guys are ranked low. Obviously Mauer and Willingham are pretty appropriately ranked, and Florimon will suck, but there's good reason to think that guys like Plouffe and Parmalee will be very good.
