Building a Lineup for 2020

A look ahead to the 2020 season; look how many of these players will be in their primes (ages 26-32). There is a good chance that everyone on this list will at-least be serviceable big-leaguers as well as feature a few All-Stars.

Reason #1 why the Twins need to go HARD after pitching againin this Summers MLB amateur draft.

DH Joe Mauer(37)

3B TrevorPlouffe (33)

2B BrianDozier (32)

1B ChrisParmelee (32)

OF Joe Benson(32)

RF AaronHicks (30)

LF OswaldoArcia (29)

C JosmilPinto (31)

SS DannySantana (29)

2B LeviMichael (29)

DH KennysVargas (29)

2B EddieRosario (27)

3B MiguelSano (26)

Problem number 1 is that a number of those guys will also have to be extended at that point. Problem number 2 is that stastically speaking, a good chunk of them will fail. Hope you are right, but odds are good a number of those guys will not be worth keeping.

Hopefully we don't have to wait 7 years for a competitive team, but it is a lot of fun to imagine a perfect world in which every prospect pans out.

I'm all about looking down the road..but 7 years is a pretty futile endeavor IMO 4 is aboutright

Among our current top ten:

My boom pick (exceeding even our own lofty expectations: Aaron Hicks

Four who will live up to or slightly exceed expectations: Buxton, Gibson, Berrios, and Kepler

Four who will slightly dissappoint: May, Arcia, Benson, Rosario

Bust pick: Sano

Caveat: subject to change later tonight, and authored by a guy who knows pretty much close to nothing about baseball talent evaluation.

Who do you think is managing the team?

With Smokin Joe Mauers wife having Twins , it all but seals the deal , he will 1 day be a player/manager, maybe as soon as 2015

what only 7 pitchers?

We can't possibly know what the roster will look like in seven years, that exceeds the team control for all players that rookies this season and next. We've got Mauer.
