Reusse: Ben Rortvedt hopes to catch on

Patrick Reusse wrote a really good article on Ben Rortvedt. 

 

 

The article discusses him missing time due to a knee injury. He went to spring training last year but pulled an oblique so didn't play in a game. Then came COVID, and then he wasn't on the 60-player pool last year. However, the Twins did add him to the Twins 40-man roster last November. 

 

 

Second-round catchers are too valuable to be allowed to walk away before full evaluation, even if there's another 23-year-old second-rounder who made the cut for the St. Paul squad last July, and debuted for the Twins on Aug. 20.

Read that article, Seth. Still believe that he will be part of the Twins catching tandem long term, perhaps as soon as sometime next year. But then you know how I am rooting for the local kid.

 

Bigger question to me is whether he shares that role with Garver or Jeffers?

Having too many catchers of value sure would be a nice problem to have.
