Oh how I wish I could make a living writing about baseball, I make my living as an environmental education instructor for Hamline and a lecturer on the small cruise boats of American Cruise Line. I just happen to love baseball, so thanks for giving me a dream job!

You are right about Gehrig - the classic tragic story, but he was not injury prone, just disease destroyed. Puckett was not injury prone, but like Gehrig went down with one bad stroke of luck, and Clemente was simply a victim of a plane crash while carrying out his great humanitarian work. Oliva was down with his knees and is the closest to injury prone, but more a bad luck case of one fatal injury. I have had four knee operations (one replacement) and I can empathize, but if Tony were playing today the medical response would have helped him to complete his great career as a HOF.

The list mentioned Munson. He wasn’t injury prone. He died in a plane crash as well.

You might be interested in this article which encompasses his career.  He was once knocked out at home plate and it says, "Munson was usually able to play through most of his injuries, which included sore knees, a bad thumb plus nerve damage, and bursitis in his throwing arm. However, it took a serious staph infection to sideline him for eight games early in the 1977 season. A short time later, a cut on his throwing hand required seven stitches, but he managed to stay in the lineup." https://sabr.org/bioproj/person/53cf0c87

"In late July of 1979, Thurman, who had been playing in severe pain all year, was sent to the Yankees’ team doctor to have his aching knees checked. Billy Martin, who had been rehired as manager in June, speculated in the press that Munson would not be able to catch for the rest of the season."  It was because of a day off for his aching knees that he was able to take his plane out for the fatal flight.

Not sure he belongs on the list, but injuries certainly were part of his career.

We need Buxton. If I sorted his game log correctly, when he plays the complete game, the Twins' record is 43-23 this season. In the games he played partially, they are 9-0. Without him, they are 6-13 now.

The 9-0 part is an anomaly, I suppose, but the overall trend looks very strong. Not the same team without him.

Thank you for counting that up. I was wondering about this last night and the W L numbers go along with the eye test. They are a much better team with a healthy Buxton in the lineup.
