sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 I heard tell today is talk like a pirate day on the radio. That true? Or was i a victim o' fake news? I always miss it, just as i almost always miss fluff fest celebrating the invention of marshmallow fluff as a food item. Does a game with an opener not really start until the second inning? Today's game thread is devoted to such deep questions... Line ups to follow, but we got a 4 run lead already so this should be posted sooner rather than later...
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 19, 2018 Author Posted September 19, 2018 Er... Noon i guess. Was on the west coast Saturday... sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 19, 2018 Author Posted September 19, 2018 6-0 Twins in the blink of an eye... I mean the refresh of a browser.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 19, 2018 Author Posted September 19, 2018 Yeah, I think he manages one of their minor league teams. Thanks! Nice to know he landed on his feet.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 Wow, the Tigers are really bad at this game. Wow.
jimmer Verified Member Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 Wow, the Tigers are really bad at this game. Wow.Wow, our announcers are really bad at announcing this game. Wow. :-)
jimmer Verified Member Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 Yeah, I think he manages one of their minor league teams. He is their AAA manager.
jimmer Verified Member Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 It's now the 5th inning and our announcers are STIIIIIIILLLLLLLL complaining about the opener concept. Talking about it every inning.
wavedog Verified Member Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 Starter or Primary nice to Gonsalves figure some stuff out and pitch solidly. Not sure if it is the Detroit bats or him pitching well but good to see some 0's put up. That is the benefit of bringing him up and get some innings under his belt.
Doomtints Verified Member Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 The Tigers lineup today has just one hitter to worry about.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 This game is exhibit A for why September stats are so misleading.
SF Twins Fan Verified Member Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 He's thrown 6 shutout innings and on only 78 pitches but it looks like Molitor will be taking him out of the game....

He basically faced the equivalent of the players that he saw in MiLB, save Castellanos. AAAA and only in the rotation next year if the Twins are as bad or worse than they are this year.
FormerMinnasotan Provisional Member Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 So the Tigers really have helped boost the confidence of Kohl Stewart and Stephen Gonsalves. They have pitched a combined 12 innings, gave up 4 hits, 0 earned runs, walked 4, and struck out 9.
wavedog Verified Member Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 Looks like Busenitz can't even get these AAAA hitters out
MN_ExPat Verified Member Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 You know, I'm kind of disappointed. Young man makes his MLB debut this season, struggles (a lot), but finally has a nice game... and the wolves are still howling and nipping at his Achilles, waiting for him to stumble and in stumbling become thus consumed. So what if it is a pretty poor Detroit lineup. Is it really that important? He pitched a nice game, can't folks say something positive for once?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 19, 2018 Author Posted September 19, 2018 Winnah. Yawn.

Doomtints Verified Member Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 The Tigers lineup today has just one hitter to worry about. And that guy drove in the Tigers runs. Funny. Next time, Molly, just walk the dude!

Doesn't change any of hte other comments' validity, imo.
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 Rip Van Winkle time, asleep at the PC. Forgot the early start. Very pleasant to see the win. As Nuke LaLoosh sez: "I like winning. It's like, better than losing."
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 19, 2018 Author Posted September 19, 2018 And in response to a query i made in yesterday's game thread, i took a moment to look at our remaining schedule. All postponed games have been made up, it seems, so we can win out for a 500 record. Wouldn't that be nice?
