Winston Smith Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Ask Jacque Jones. He could hit!
wavedog Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 How can a ML outfielder miss home plate by 20 plus feet? The good news is Field won’t be on the team next year - Embrace the suck. Maybe that’s the teams spin to Buxton - we didn’t want you to play in September because we are trying to field a AAA team.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 This time of year is rough when you are out of it. I always want the team to win but there is little hope - then you feel guilty hoping they lose except for the fact that most of the guys in this lineup won’t be starting on the team next year. So then maybe it’s ok to lose. Losing can help build character, just like other kinds of adversity. Up to a point, anyway. I'm going to arbitrarily designate anything more than 10 games below .500 at this point in the season (for me, anyway) as non-character-building. So the new stat for this is Losses Beyond Character-building, or LoBeyChab. The Twins are 12 below .500, for a LoBeyChab of -2.0. If your own personal LoBeyChab gets to -10.0, you are advised to discontinue use of Twins BaseballTM and consult a physician.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Am I reading gameday correctly? Have their been THREE mound visits this inning? MLB rule states that third visit requires the manager to send a postcard to the dugout.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 How can a ML outfielder miss home plate by 20 plus feet? Ask Jacque Jones. Or Ben Revere, whose throws would sometimes roll to a dead stop 20 feet short of the infield.
wavedog Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 I think a fan got hit by that broken bat - a little scary
wavedog Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Alright, Curtiss pitching. Someone we might like to see on the team next year!
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Alright, Curtiss pitching. Someone we might like to see on the team next year!Next September, if we're lucky.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 This is a bad team. Yup, and yet there's considerable hand-wringing being invested in whether we'll be able to bring back a very average 36 year old first baseman next year as the otherwise missing piece of a contender.
wavedog Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 At least Austin didn’t get hurt on that slip.
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 This is a bad team. You just figure that out tonight?
LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 At least Austin didn’t get hurt on that slip. They'd have to fall pretty hard to hurt Austin, it's like 200 miles away.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 You just figure that out tonight? Been on vacation..... Sure that's it.
wavedog Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Peacock on the mound with a baseball - are we playing clue?
LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Peacock on the mound with a baseball - are we playing clue? Professor Polanco, in the conservatory, with the Louisville candlestick.
jimmer Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Wait, we allowed six earned runs this game and a reliever DIDN'T start the game? :-)

I'm on pins and needles... or is is needles and pins?
David HK Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Wait, we allowed six earned runs this game and a reliever DIDN'T start the game? :-)Well, it was Odorizzi, so technically....
KirbyDome89 Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Belisle time - yes!Off to a good start...
LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Stros fans are on their feet, cheering for their team to add to a five-run lead in the 8th. On behalf of the Twins organization, I'm embarrassed and envious, not irritated.
wavedog Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 New slogan..... Twins baseball - smell it up!
tvagle Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Now I know why they call it BP...always thought it was Batting Practice...turns out it is Belisle Pitching
David HK Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Belisle time - yes!I swear to God. B-slapped by Falvine and MoY again. They are seriously trying to make me not a fan anymore. RIP- Dave's fandom. 1965-9/6/2018 Screw this team.
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Belisle, Field and Grossman, building blocks for next year.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 And after this debacle, I'm feeling my ire shift from Belisle to those responsible for him being on the mound. Edit: Thanks, HK, it's a relief to see that I'm not the only one who feels their Twins fandom being threatened by this regime.
tvagle Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 At least he erased the inherited runners so he can earn all those runs Why are they allowing Belisle to "experiment" with a new arm angle when they could be learning about any number of young arms Color me Baffled
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 I don't have anything left to say about Belisle at this point. It's just plain obvious he isn't an MLB-caliber player anymore. And after this debacle, I'm feeling my ire shift from Belisle to those responsible for him being on the mound. Absolutely, and I've been one to defend Falvey & Levine, but some of their decisions have been inexplicable. I don't get how they traded for the future but continue to roll out guys who, to a even a common fan who knows little about the nuances of baseball, knows are terrible?
