Additional Notes:

The Tigers have only won three of their last 12 games, though two of those came against the Twins, who they’re 5-4 against this season. Liriano has given up 19 earned runs in 30 2/3 innings pitched (5.58 ERA) against the Twins over his career. The Twins have the fifth-worst OPS against left-handed pitchers in baseball (.667). Logan Forsythe is 5-for-10 against Lirano over his career and Tyler Austin has a home run off him in just three career plate appearances. Ervin Santana has given up six home runs in his four starts since returning from the DL. He’s altered his pitch mix to depend more on his changeup, increasing his usage of that pitch from 10.3 percent last year to 21.1 percent.

Big Erv should be fired up for this one. Plus, for his own sake, he really needs to get back on track before he hits free agency. Go Big Erv!

This is Rosario’s second off day since Saturday. In a week with a scheduled day off.

Like to know the rationale for that. Maybe a few more off days in July would have slowed down his slump. He’s been pretty decent so far in August.

Adrianza over Rosario makes zero sense, but ok.

If Rosie needs a day off, at least put Cave out there instead of Adrianza...

Santana makes me miss Lynn, and that's saying something.

Here's hoping they can get Romero or Gonsalves up and take Ervin's starts because he's clearly cooked without his fastball in prime condition.

I'm not sure what benefit the team is getting from starting Santana. His stuff is clearly gone and he seems unable to find success as a junk baller, so why not just shut him down. I see virtually no chance anyone would want to trade for him so there is no reason to keep running him out there. I'd much rather see his starts going to Mejia/Romero/Gonsalves/Stewart/Littell/Thorpe.

The Mets beat the Phillies in Philly today 24-4.

1-4 batters for the Mets went 13 for 28 with 6 rbi's.

6-8 went 10 for 15 with 11 rbi's (Bautista had 7 rbi's all by his lonesome)

The guy has made over $60,000,000 playing baseball. He'll be ok.

Haha I knew there’d be a response like that. Money or not, it’s always sad to see someone struggle at the end of their career as their talents are pretty much gone.

According to my facebook feed, it was 7 years ago today that Jim Thome hit career HR # 600, while wearing a Twins uniform.

Against Detroit, no less.

Buxton 2-4 (single and double) with one K this evening.

At AAA. Until he can do it against major leaguers, I don't see any purpose in bringing him back up.
