wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 I understand what you are saying, but you are picking one thing out of the context that I am tired of Ks and 4 is terrible. Yes one could have been a DP, but I would take in exchange for four contact swings. The DP is a potential, but so is a hit, an error, a fielder's choice...Do you remember the misplay of a DP ball in yesterday's game - we ended up scoring a run. Nothing good ever comes of a strikeout. Even with double play, the ball is in play and anything can happen. That happens 0% of the time with a strikeout. Even on a K-PB/WP, that had nothing to do with the batter. Put the ball in play! Make the defense make the play. Double plays can kill rallies and/or minimize positive results but there are times when they can be productive nonetheless even if it is a small percentage. That small percentage is still above 0. mikelink45 1
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Not sure why Kintzler was brought in, a day after pitching the 8th and 9th. He should still be available Tuesday and Wednesday before the day off. Also, Joe Mauer needs to play all three Dodgers games this series, even though the Twins will face two left-handers. Otherwise, with Vargas unavailable and Mauer on the bench, a whole host of infielders are playing out of position. Either Vargas stays on the team, or Mauer needs to play 1B every day he isn't. Should not be news by now. It will be good to get Buxton back, too. USAFChief 1
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Terrible throw by Dozier but once again Mejia, had he fielded his position like a pro, stops that ball from getting to the backstop and the damage is minimized.
