minn55441 Provisional Member Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 A lot of teams passed on Jose Mijares for him to be claimed by the San Francisco Giants. He has actually pitched well for the Royals this year. Punto won a ring with the cardinals last year, will Mijares win a ring with the Giants in 2012?
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 No. I think the Nationals or Dodgers will beat the Giants. And it is odd how many teams passed on Mijares. But still, he's had his best season out of Minnesota, as many former Twins always seem to do, which makes me suspect something is up.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Mijares, like JC Romero, had some very good seasons with the Twins. For the Giants to go far in the playoffs, it is all dependent upon Tim Lincecum.
Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 The reason that KC let him go (per the KC GM) and likely why the other teams passed on him is that with him having a good season and being in the second year of arbitration, he will cost around $2.5M, which is something that most teams are not willing to pay for him. A contender can keep him and non-tender him after the season is over.
greengoblinrulz Provisional Member Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 as long as Rick Anderson isnt in the Bay area, Jose will be fine
