Brandon Warne Verified Member Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 To be fair, Brandon Warne is kind of dumb imo
jeffn48 Provisional Member Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Except you aren't making the decision w/o context..... What do you do with Sano if you sign Plouffe, or Mauer, or Park or Vargas or Palka or ABWIII? If you are giving up on Sano as a 3B, where does he play? DH? Then what do you do with Park and Vargas? 1B? When would Park or Vargas play, and how much does Mauer play/dh? That's true, I wonder how long it would actually take for Plouffe to rebuild his value to the point where he could actually fetch something of value in return. I suppose you are right that the value obtained from assessing whether those guys you mentioned are viable options might outweigh the value Plouffe would return in trade, and it certainly would if he doesn't bounce back. Well, trades don't really happen until June or July. So, that long at least.

Frankly I'm tired of waiting for this magical moment to happen. 70charger, Mike Sixel and jeffn48 3
bcs4 Verified Member Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 I think Santana can net a really solid AA player that is in the 40-70 range for Top 100 prospects. Something like that. His contract and performance in this offseason should make him a very attractive asset. I think Dozier can land you a near ready or ready young arm and 1-2 other pieces in the lower levels with upside. Oh, I thought you were talking about Ervin Santana. One other thing. Dozier's WAR over the last 3 years is the same as Sales'. I think he's worth substantially more than you give him credit for.

Frankly I'm tired of waiting for this magical moment to happen. I don't understand your logic. The time for the Twins to trade him would have been when there was an expectation of some potential, not after he becomes great. If he ever became a great player the Twins would have been stupid to trade him. With his flashes of power and respectable OPS, the Twins could have always found a trading partner for him had they bothered to try. The "potential" was there year after year but Ryan never made the move. Now that he's 30 and his durability is a concern it's probably a safe bet he remains a Twin until his contract expires, especially with his severe regression on defense.
Brandon Verified Member Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 The idea of keeping Plouffe is if your in the camp that believes Sano is not a 3b option and should focus on 1b and DH. Feldman can still start so he won't sign as a reliever.
