Couldn't be much worse than Mauer at the lead off.  Besides Bux is too young to write off as a lead off hitter.  Way too young.

I read this article yesterday and pondered for awhile.

 

The MiLB numbers are fantastic, no question.  But nothing in this article makes feel good about Buxton being ready for the MLB anytime soon.  I don't really know how the MLB staff was handling Buxton, but after a 2nd attempt and an opportunity to play a lot more in the MLB [Aaron Hicks removal from the competition], you'd think the pressure would be significantly reduced. 

 

As my dad would have told me:  You have a young family to support.  Grow a pair.

or something like that.....

I'm not writing him off. I'm just wondering how his major league numbers are going to translate based on what's happening this month- I'm not seeing how the major league problems are being addressed, let alone being fixed (admittedly don't have all of the data points- but the K/BB improvement isn't there- and he's never going to be a success, especially at the top of the order, unless something changes radically with the K/BB).

I think they should call them up en masse as well. If Buxton and Berrios read anything regarding themselves online, they probably both feel the pressure of being some type of projected "savior" for this club. Call Buxton, Berrios, Polanco, Chargois and Kepler up together, let them share the experience, I'd bet they'd also feel the pressure is then not completely on their shoulders.

 

And yes, I know it's difficult to call up that many guys at once before September.
