Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 JJ Hardy and his .631 OPS return to Target Field tonight... Steve Pearce spent a week or so of spring training with the Twins this year, hurt most of the time... Steve Tolleson was a 2005 draft pick of the Twins and got up to AAA in the organization before he was DFAd from the 40 man roster to make room for... Jim Thome, who is not in the Orioles lineup tonight.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Just went to find the probable starters for the Orioles for this series. Hard to believe that its possible for anyone to look as pitiful as the Twins starters but Tillman, Britton and 2 "To Be Announced" might do it.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Jim Thome, who is not in the Orioles lineup tonight.Thank. God.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Speaking of Tillman, he is the kind of guy I wouldn't mind trying to trade for (nothing of substantial value). To bad they don't need "proven all star closer" help. I think Tillman eventually becomes a solid pitcher, and I think a change of scenery out of the AL east would be nice for him.
Badsmerf Verified Member Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 How is this team competing for a playoff spot?
Top Gun Provisional Member Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 The #1 starter is suppose to stop a losing streak, so we shall see.
snepp Verified Member Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 How is this team competing for a playoff spot? They sold their soul for two unsustainable months, the inevitable return to earth is well under way. 3.70 ERA and .750 OPS first two months 4.70 ERA and .640 OPS last 6 weeks
Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 How is this team competing for a playoff spot?Timely pitching and some timely hitting works. I just got back from vacation and see we've dropped 5 games in that time (which covered the All-star break). Nice. Well, let's right the ship tonight.
snepp Verified Member Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Hardy has a .309 OPS over the last month, 103 PA.
snepp Verified Member Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Bremergasm! (the forum software wouldn't let me use all-caps, diminishing the intended effect)
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Wow! Revere with the highlight reel catch of the year!
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 No knocks on the defense this inning! Way to shut the door.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 17, 2012 Author Posted July 17, 2012 Revere is going to make Dick's head (tee hee hee) explode by the end of the season.

Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Too bad Revere was in right where his range doesnt play.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 17, 2012 Author Posted July 17, 2012 Too bad Revere was in right where his range doesnt play.Sigh. You know balls are hit like that in left field as well, right?
striker_86 Provisional Member Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Will Thome go yard once or twice or more this series?
snepp Verified Member Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Will Thome go yard once or twice or more this series?I'll go with once.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 17, 2012 Author Posted July 17, 2012 Ben is having a nice game for himself in the first inning.
snepp Verified Member Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 One of those singles to left-center would work just fine here.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 17, 2012 Author Posted July 17, 2012 One of those singles to left-center would work just fine here.Joe Mauer: not a run producer, confirmed. He took two pitches. edit: Three pitches. edit: Tried to take off the pitcher's head with a single.
snepp Verified Member Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 One of those singles to left-center would work just fine here.Close enough.

Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Sigh. You know balls are hit like that in left field as well, right?Thats the point. Everyone up in arms about which corner revere plays is all agog about very little and what little there is is all arm related.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 17, 2012 Author Posted July 17, 2012 Thats the point. Everyone up in arms about which corner revere plays is all agog about very little and what little there is is all arm related.I only cared when I thought that left field was more active. Now that it appears that nobody on planet earth knows for sure which corner outfield spot is more active, it doesn't matter so much (but I'd still like to see him in left, if only because of the arm). Hopefully this is a non-issue soon when Revere shifts into center.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 17, 2012 Author Posted July 17, 2012 It'd be swell to see the Twins chase an opposing starter early.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 17, 2012 Author Posted July 17, 2012 Plouffe is a completely different hitter. I have no idea what his ceiling is at this point. His selection is far better than I ever expected since the breakout.
