Wow...

Sun in his eyes... ball going from shadow to light... but yet still quick enough to turn the DP!

I was surprised to see in the box score that their was only 1,073 people there, reasons? Misprint??

Attendance at minor league postseason games is notoriously poor. The tickets aren't part of season ticket packages, many of which are purchased by businesses to hand out to employees. In addition, the team only had one full day to sell advance tickets. Then, yes, you add in the fact that they're competing with the first weekend of NFL football and it means light attendance.

The flip side is that the crowd that does show up is often much more vocal and into the game because all of them are there for the baseball, as opposed to the significant number that come to a regular season game just for the social aspect.

The Kernels are going to have a similar challenge with game 3 Saturday. They'll be going up against an Iowa Hawkeye home game that's scheduled for Saturday night. The Kernels have scheduled their game for 3:35 to minimize the conflict, but it will still affect attendance.

BTW, Peoria only had 989 attend game 1 on Saturday night and only 883 showed up in Lansing last night for game 2 of the Eastern Division series, so it's not just a CR thing.

The Kernels won the MWL's Western Division title Sunday night 5-4.

Nick Gordon made a couple of impressive defensive plays, but here's video of the final play of the game, started by a diving stop by Gordon.

The future's so bright I have to wear shades.

I feel i am a true baseball fan, i go for just the game itself, but i do understand the importance of marketing, but too bad a winning product doesnt attract more, it should be the most exciting part of the season :)

That is impressive. The diving play he made earlier in the game to his right and then the rifle from the hole was just as impressive.

Agree. The earlier play was actually more impressive to me. Flat dive to his backhand side, having to get up to his feet to make a throw and still getting the guy by a step at first base. Incredible play (and with Terry Ryan watching from behind home plate, as a bonus).

Had a great experience many years ago at a 7th game of the AAA championships (Chipper Jones's final game as a minor leaguer), just happening to be in Charlotte that evening, walking up to the ticket office half an hour before game time and buying the best seats possible right behind home plate, for something like $7. Can't be beat.

Q: What time is the playoff game tonight?

A: What time can you be here?
