see above for the quote, Nick. It's not some narrative people made up. Sigh.

Sorry, I didn't realize that was actually paraphasing a Ryan comment.  I would agree, and would be a bit disheartened if that's what he's implying.  It also doesn't bode well for any kind of quick ascent for Tyler Jay who is decidely slight.

I guess my question is why is it a problem to be more conservative with a smaller pitcher when it comes to innings jumps? Seems prudent to me.

Is there any actual data that backs anything like that up? I'm guessing, no. Just like innings limits in general for the most part.

Pitch counts, yes. I get that, innings limits, no.

Correct, nothing conclusive. And there probably never will be because teams aren't going to push young arms and smaller frames to figure it out. And it wouldn't matter if there was anyways, as all arms/body types are different and have different injury likelihoods.

But we have seen his pitch count for each start, and they are high also (avg. >97 over last 12 starts). So in the end, does that mean you agree?

I get that Berrios is maybe 6' tall in his shoes, but he's not what you would call "slight" or "small framed," imo. He's listed at 185#.

Felix Jorge (6' 2", 170#) is a more appropriate example of such a frame and he's gone from 105 IP in 2014 to 142 (and potentially still another playoff start to come) this season. Yes, you may be more cautious with a top prospect who is on the verge of breaking in to big league ball, but I was mildly surprised by TR's comments about Berrios' physical stature being a factor. I don't have a real issue with it, though.

Doh! Sorry DW, I thought you meant total pitches thrown in a year. EOM
