Wade came to the Twins as a 9th round pick in the 2015 draft. The CF prospect signed a 163,800 signing bonus and has gotten right to work in Elizabethton. In his first 36 games he already has 42 hits. He's batting .307 with a .504 slugging and .904 OPS. He's hit 6 doubles, 3 triples and 5 home runs driving in 27 RBIs. He's patient enough to draw 19 walks to off set his 22 strike outs. I'm pretty excited about his immediate splash in the pros and look forward to seeing him emerge as a legitimate prospect.

In his last 10 games since I adopted LaMonte, he has cooled off. He has only hit .265 with 2 homers on 9 hits and 9 walks for 8 RBIs and 7 Runs. His slugging has slipped to .497 and his OPS is under .900 (.899). He has only stolen two bases and he struck out 5 times in 34 at bats. I I guess I cursed him but hopefully he will recover and get those numbers back up where they were.

Last 10 games, 12 hits in 34 at bats plus 11 walks. He struck out once and stole 2 more bases (both in the same game)

Plus this:

LaMonte Wade was named an Appy League Utility/Outfield All Star.

Ok, now we're talking steam on this kid!

64 games, 231 at bats and he's now at Cedar Rapids!

Elizabethton stats: 8 doubles, 5 Triples and 9 homers. 44 RBIs and 36 runs scored. 46BB to 34 K's.

.312 BA, .428 OBP and .506 slugging. (That's a .934 OPS for you Math wizards) Finally, he stole 12 of 13 bases attempted.

LaMonte Wade was announced as the August TD minor league hitter of the month runner up today...So close but the right choice was made for #1...

Now here is the danger in small sample sizes... Look at these low A season stats...

RBI 1

BB 1

K 2 (Now that's a bad K/BB rate)

LaMonte Wade was hit less again in his second playoff game, but he was a major part of the action.

His first at bat was a strikeout. When he came up to bat in the 4th, there were runners on 1st and 2nd. Wade laid down a sacrifice bunt advancing both runners. One of those runners scored for a brief Cedar Rapids lead. Quad cities tied the game up in the bottom of the fourth. It remained a tie into the 11th in part due to Wade throwing out a runner at home in the 5th. The tie was broken in the 11th. With a runner on first, Wade reached first on an error and advanced to second on another error in the same play.both runners scored securing the playoff series win for Cedar Rapids.

Officially Wade was 0 for 6 in at bats with 0 RBIs and only one run scored. On to the next round.

Great coverage on Wade.  Thanks for keeping it updated.  Nice to see the guy still find ways to make an impact on important games even when he's adjusting-on-the-fly to the higher pitching level.

Saturday in Peoria, LaMonte Wade enjoyed another playoff win going 2-4 at the plate. With two men on and two outs in the top of the first, he hit a ground rule double giving Cedar Rapids a brief 1-0 lead. (Peoria also scored in the first) The next batter struck out stranding the runners at 2nd and 3rd.

Wade had the privilege of leading off the 4th, 7th, and 9th innings. In the 4th he singled on a soft liner to Left, but he was caught stealing second base. In the seventh He hit a fly ball to the Center Fielder for the first out, and in the 9th he hit a rocket to the first basemen for that innings first out.

Today not starting well for Wade... He came to bat in the first with runners on first and second and two outs. He grounded out to the first baseman.

He got his chance at redemption with runners on 2nd and third and one out in the third only to strike out. (The batter behind him stranded both runners) down 4-1 going into the 4th.

Finishing the story of yesterdays game... LaMonte Wade came to bat a third time with a runner in scoring position in the fifth. This time he came through with a double and an RBI. He was promptly stranded at second.

In the 7th, With Wade batting Nick Gordon stole 3rd. This was important because during the same at bat, a passed ball allowed him to score the tying run. Lamonte popped out but the Kernals scored again and completed another playoff sweep so my man is on to the next round!!

Cedar Rapids just might sweep the post season. 5-0 win tonight with my man patrolling CF yet again.

2nd inning ground out

4th inning with man on second, he grounds out advancing the runner to third

6th inning fly out to LF

8th inning singles advancing runner from 1st to 3rd, Steals 2nd and then scores on a single

One more game on the road then home to CR for the remainder of the five game series. I predict they clinch Saturday in the three game sweep.

Cedar Rapids suffered its first playoff loss Thursday 1-4 after some random Minnesota rube cursed them with a playoff sweep prediction. The championship series featuring LaMonte Wade is now tied 1-1 but all three remaining games I believe are hosted by our club.

As for our hero, Thursday looked like this:

2nd inning strike out

4th inning fly out to right field

6th inning he reached on an error by their first baseman, advanced to third on a 2 out single, and jogged back to the dugout when the next batter grounded out third to first

In the 9th inning he got one last shot but his LF fly ball failed to land in the grass

He has these cumulative playoff stats

6 games, .182 BA, 2 Runs, 2 RBIs, 2 2B, 1BB, 4Ks, .250OBP, .273 Slugging 1Stolen base, and one caught stealing in 22 at bats.

Tomorrow night will be the deciding game in Cedar Rapids. Series tied 2-2 after a weekend split.

Our young hero was on base half the time this weekend, so that's pretty good. Saturday he walked twice, the first time stranded at second, the second time he was getting to third base in the bottom of the ninth as the winning run crossed home plate. His other two plate appearances were outs including hitting into a double play.

Today he had two singles. In the third inning he was up to bat when the third out was recorded at second base on a failed steal attempt. He returned to the dish and singled in the fourth... Too bad about that failed steal. His second single came in the bottom of the ninth as the Kernels attempted to rally. If you don't know, they lost 2-1 on a strike out with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth. LaMonte Wade watched that K from 2B as the potential winning run.

But there is still one more tomorrow... Go Kernels!!

The Kernals gave her a good ride but one game short of champions. As for LaMonte Wade, his final game of this season saw 4 plate appearances. A walk, Strike Out, Fly Out and Pop Up did not help his team much.

Season Wrap up: Wade dominated High Rookie ball and deserved the move to the next level. He did not have much time to show his stuff as he got thrown into the playoffs. I expect him to spend all of next year in Cedar Rapids unless he does the same thing there as in Elizabethan and pushes the time table up to mid season.
