Hrbowski Verified Member Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Travis Blankenhorn, a third baseman, was selected in the 3rd round of the 2015 MLB Amateur Player Draft out of a Pennsylvania high school. Blankenhorn has a swing that reminds some of Alex Gordon, and should add power to it as he gets stronger. Blankenhorn played shortstop in high school, but so far during his professional career he has played third and first, with third his most likely position to play as he climbs up the organization's ladder, but he could eventually move to the outfield. Blankenhorn has gotten off to a good start so far in his career, going 3-7 with two doubles and a triple, two runs scored, and two walks. Blankenhorn is a solid player in every aspect, but since he was drafted out of high school he could move through the organization slowly. Here are some videos of Blankenhorn:
nytwinsfan Provisional Member Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 This kid is really playing well. Blankenhorn is hitting 284/.376/.446 (.822) with 13 K and 8 BB in 86 PAs at both the Gulf Coast League and at Elizabethton. Since moving to Elizabethton he has been playing all Third Base.
