Stupid, just stupid managerial decision. Instead of Buxton in the 9th with the tying run on 2nd, we end up with Escobar.

According to the math, it actually works better this way. Fangraphs has several articles discussing this over the years.

Be a problem for the Twins though, if a pitcher got on base in front of Buxton.  That's clogging the bases.

It only makes sense if you actually have a serviceable bench IMO, which the Twins currently do not have.
