Adrian Salcedo
DOB: 2-5-91 in Moca, Espaillat, D.R.
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 200
Position: RP
Bats: Right
Throws: Right
Acquired: Signed by Twins as non-drafted free agent on Dec. 13, 2007

2014 statistics

NBR: 73 IP, 4.19 ERA, 9.4 K/9, 3.0 BB/9 (76/24)

Salcedo was once a top-10 Twins prospect. Things were great through 2010, good through 2011, and then took a turn for the worse in 2012 with injury for Salcedo. He has bounced back, however, and his career is coming back and is really not all that behind schedule, although he is likely done as a starter.  He got stronger in July and August last year and will build off of that in the bullpen for Chattanooga in 2015 until he moves up to AAA at some point.

2015 prediction: 30 IP at AA with a 2.60 ERA, 9.8 K/9, 2.8 BB/9; 35 IP at AAA with a 2.90 ERA, 8.4 K/9, and 2.9 BB/9.

I would not be surprised if Salcedo makes the Twins September roster.

Salcedo is pitching well out of the bullpen for Chattanooga in the early going:

As reliever:

Four IP, no earned runs, three strikeouts, and two walks

Unfortunately, they were short on starters for a game, so they stuck Salcedo out there. As a starter:

Three IP, two earned runs, three walks, and one strikeout.

I don't think Salcedo has any future as a starter, so maybe they won't try this again.

I am waiting this season for the logjam of mediocrity to open up at the top (Boyer, Graham, Duensing, Stauffer, Thielbar) for five other guys to get their chance. Salcedo is on the fringe of those five. He has just been in the system for so long that I would like to see him up in September!

Salcedo continues to be dominant out of the bullpen. In six IP this week he gave up no runs while striking out six. He gave up just three hits and no walks.

Out of the bullpen for Chattanooga this year:

10 IP, no earned runs, nine strikeouts, and two walks. The six hits given up have all been singles.

Salcedo, a guy who could have been promoted to the Twins by now, is finally back from his suspension. Hopefully, he can get it together quickly. Such a waste!

And Salcedo has been promoted to AAA Rochester. Go figure. Maybe they are trying to give him a quick look there and consider him an option for a call up to the Twins this year? There is some dead weight on that 40 man roster . . .

Salcedo is back to Chattanooga. It is alarming how bullpen prospects fell dramatically this year. Burdi, Reed, and Jones all had to go back to A+. Salcedo was suspended.

I think Brandon Peterson, J.T. Chargois, and Corey Williams might all be on par with or passing those four. For the second year in a row, the Chattanooga bullpen will be loaded next year.

2015 wrap up:

23 innings pitched, 4.70 ERA, 18 K, 13 BB, 1.435 WHIP

Suspension for performance enhancing drug totally threw his season off. The former top ten Twins prospect could have had a shot at the Twins pen.

2016 start prediction: AA Chattanooga or outside the organization.

ETA: 2016 in September, perhaps
