Interesting article.  Dbacks gave Tomas nearly 70m to play third base but he doesn't seem able to hold it down.  So they have to send him to a corner OF spot but already have Trumbo making Colabello look like a gold glover in RF.  They can't put him at firstbase b/c they have a pretty good first basemen and the NL has no DH.  And he didn't look good in ST anyway.  So he's in the minors and the Dbacks will have to move Trumbo - who doesn't have much trade value, to be kind.

Never should have been kept at 3B that long.......imo. From what I read all year, he was a corner OF or 1B waiting to happen.

I'm not sure the AZ leadership has much of a good plan in general, frankly. I'm pretty sure I said the Twins should sign him, but I was thinking RF.....

The other thing that makes me laugh is that possibly the two best hitting prospects the Diamondbacks have both happen to play 3B.  Jake Lamb is ready now, and while he isn't a world beater, he could be a .265-20 sort of 3B guy while playing league average defense.  Brandon Drury is the real gem.  He was plucked from the Braves in the Justin Upton deal and may be the best piece they acquired in that deal.  He'll most certainly play high-end 3B defense, but his bat has come along enough to see a guy who could be a .290-20 sort of guy with even more upside in the power department, but hitting a lot of doubles as he builds to that - sort of the similar profile offensively as Manny Machado thus far in his career.

Then you have Tomas, who most people said would be lucky to hit .250 and commit less than 30 errors while playing any infield position over a full season.  He was a poor signing for Arizona from day one.

I thought that Tomas would end up signing with the Braves, but they are probably lucky they didn't sign him.

No, I never thought he'd be a Brave.  They were out of the bidding pretty early.
