Two things:

 

1. I'd like to join a keeper/dynasty league, but most of my friends are not baseball savy enough, or maybe even committed enough to run a team year after  year.

 

2. Has there been any discussion about starting a fantasy baseball forum here at Twins Daily?

although espn does offer keeper format , but i think it takes private invites or all of us knowing the 'password' which really isn't a big deal..... I like 16-28 team leagues the bigger the better. :-)

I run a smaller keeper league (10 teams) on ESPN. If you need someone to join, I guess I'll play. 

 

Best format is Roto imo. 

 

The main key is to have a good commish though.

I'm a bit overbooked to join one, though I've been talking with some friends of mine about starting a dynasty in a little different format than most for next season.  I just need that much time to put together how to run it.  I wish there were as many good options for hosting a game for free for baseball as there are for fantasy football.  So many people wimp out when any money is discussed with fantasy sports, so it's hard to get a league going that requires a decent server to host it.

 

The basics of the league idea are a salary-based dynasty league where you can sign players to contracts of length and dollar amount, started with a draft of salaries based on 2015 performance (or an auction, but that requires a much better server to put together), followed with a yearly draft of the previous season's rookies and IFA's that assigns a salary based on the round they're drafted.  Waivers would work with FAAB bidding and that salary would be the salary assigned the player at the end of the season.

 

The biggest issue is finding a website to host all of that.  I played in a similar league for football, and there were numerous sites that had the ability to host a league like that.

- Weekly head-to-head, win or lose

- 25 man rosters, all active except 1 bench spot for your 25th man

- 5x5 stat categories with a twist: AVG is replaced with OBP, SB is replaced with net SB (SB-CS) and saves is replaced with Saves+Holds (middle relievers matter too!)

 

Would consider going dynasty if there's enough interest. May limit rosters to AL or NL depending on the final number of managers.

I have been looking for a good group to play with.  I always get in a league where everyone stops playing after the first month or two.  I am excited!
