cmb0252 Provisional Member Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 I don't understand obsessing over results in the minors, especially in the low minors. The point of minor league baseball is development. That's why they are called prospects. The Twins, fans who follow the draft, knew Stewart was a thrower and would need to learn how to be a pitcher. That is what he did this year. Only thing that worries me about Stewart, any pitching prospect, is injury

It's weird, how we all acknowledge that Stewart was very far from a finished product coming out of HS, yet many also insist upon explaining away the evidence so far that suggests he could end up a lower K pitcher (albeit perhaps a reasonably successful one). At this point, that seems like a far more likely scenario to me than the notion that the Twins shelved his best pitch for a full season to work on fastball command when he allowed little good contact all season anyway, or for speculative health reasons when they were already limiting his pitches and innings anyway. Not a knock on Stewart, I just wouldn't hold my breath for Meyer/May level strikeout numbers from him. He could still have a solid future ahead of hin regardless.
