LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Too Late!!! That Lake... That Lake Forces everybody in the whole world thru Chicago. If you want to go from Madison to Flint. You gotta go thru Chicago. If you wanna go from Missoula Montana to the Bahamas... You gotta go thru Chicago... If you want to drive from Christchurch New Zealand to Moscow... You gotta go thru Chicago.http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/dam/assets/130607131706-wright-brothers-flight-1903-story-top.jpg This is from CNN website (no, really). Could revolutionize transportation some day, especially crossing large bodies of water.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Jeez... That was a long foul.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Gary is what Gary is because of Chicago. The rest of Indiana doesn't even let them be in the same time zone.
Platoon Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Gary is not Chicago. It's not even in the same state.Your right,,, after driving thru Chicago Gary is like an oasis in the desert!
Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Your right,,, after driving thru Chicago Gary is like an oasis in the desert!a really crappy oasis with bars on the windows and gunshots all the time
Platoon Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Gary is what Gary is because of Chicago. The rest of Indiana doesn't even let them be in the same time zone. The only good thing about Indiana is that it is only 24 miles wide! (If you sneak into Michigan). On another interesting note, I found it surprising that the Indiana hiway patrol thinks seat belt usage is a good idea. Surprising and might I add expensive!
Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Come on Pinto!
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 Gary is what Gary is because of Chicago. The rest of Indiana doesn't even let them be in the same time zone.Gary is because of what Gary was. It has nothing to do with Chicago.
Platoon Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 a really crappy oasis with bars on the windows and gunshots all the timeI used to stop at a place off Columbus av. There was a funeral home on the way, with bars on the windows.... (Free beer to the first "they were dying to get in"). If it says we cash checks, in more than 3 languages, I get confused.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 But the EL does not go thru Summit, home of the Giant Burrito! Metra does.

LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Gary is what Gary is because of Chicago. The rest of Indiana doesn't even let them be in the same time zone.Several years ago I relocated for work to Eastern time. Coasted into an interstate gas station with an empty tank. Knew it was very low but drove through Gary anyway. Went through after dark and remember thinking that if my company had offered me a promotion in Gary or my existing position in a city that looked just like the opening dystopian cityscape scene in Blade Runner, I'd have been like...'Uh, let me research the school situation a little'.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Your right,,, after driving thru Chicago Gary is like an oasis in the desert!Any time... or just midnight?
LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Your right,,, after driving thru Chicago Gary is like an oasis in the desert!Maybe that's why while driving through it my head grew heavy and my sight grew dim. Didn't stop for the night, though the warm smell of colitas made it tempting.
