Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Positions are determined at random during pregame? Totally in. Yeah but drawing straws really doesn't work with only two catchers
stringer bell Verified Member Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Pinto hit just over .200 with a .599 OPS in May. His overall numbers are pretty good. I don't think ideally Pinto should be DHing 50 or 75 games a year, but given the options right now, I guess he is the best they have to offer. I understand Gardy's reluctance to use him as a pinch hitter unless the team's back is against the wall, but losing the DH for a few innings wouldn't be a disaster. Personally, I say they dump Kubel and start Parm at a corner against right handers for the month of June and see if Parm's hot start or current cold streak are what the player really is. Also, Pinto continues to have reverse splits--better numbers against right handers and worse against lefties.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 I have been told it is particularly hard for a young player to get 1-2 starts a week, and to be consistent/effective, as a hitter. I'd imagine that is true. Hard to say what May tells us about Pinto, given his usage, imo.
