    Why is it the Twins believe anyone that throws hard should be in the bullpen. Nolan Ryan, Roger Clemons, Randy Johnson, and Justin Verlander would have been wasted talent with this club.

    Color me old fashioned but having Buxton at the top of the order (if he hits like last year) makes a lot of sense. That definitely gives the #2 hitter an advantage if the pitcher is constantly worried about the guy on first. It also eliminates a lot of off-speed breaking pitches so that #2 hitter can sit on dead red. Using an asset like Buxton at the bottom of the order doesn't make sense if he's one of the best players on the team.

    I like the signing a lot. The 39 game suspension just means five extra weeks to shed some of that extra weight - minus the PED's of course.

    If he's the best of what the Twins won't go after (top line pitcher) then I say do it. The potential is certainly there.

    I think this is a no-brainer. The team has invested too much time and money in Pineda to not give at least one full season a shot. If he had been a disaster then I'd say no thanks but he was the best pitcher on the team for a stretch. As far as the PED's - it didn't effect Polanco negatively after the suspension so I'm going with the assumption that it would be the same for Pineda.

    Whether or not we call any of these guys up this year (bar injury) it looks like Rosario's days are numbered. I also wouldn't expect to see all of them in the system by years end if we're in another pennant race. If they perform like they have in the past they will definitely be used as trade bait for a solid starter.

    We know the ball was juiced this past season. Let's assume MLB will go back to a less juiced ball. When this happens it stands to reason the entire team will regress in regard to power production. A record breaking HR season will be out of the question. Since that's the assumption, what percentage will it go down? 10%, 25%, more? With the bats regressing because of the less juiced ball it will put an larger imperative on the Twins signing a front line pitcher. If they leave free agency without a true ace then we can certainly expect a first round elimination in the playoffs... that is, if we can finish ahead of the pitching strong Cleveland Indians.

    In order of importance in MN Twins history: 1) Service Time 2) Wins He won't be making the club out of spring training, that much is guaranteed.

    I may be in the minority but keeping at third makes the most sense. The Gardner hit past Sano was coaching. Why was he playing even with the bag? He's improved each year and like a lot of third baggers it can take a while to become adequate at that position. He can still afford to lose a few pounds and there's no reason he can't play that position at the size of A-Rod. I think losing Cron before free agency would be a mistake as he's more than adequate with the bat and he has room to improve defensively as well. The only player I'd see moving is Rosario. I think he's at the high point for trade value and there are plenty of teams in need of a 30+ HR power. The Twins just might be able to further stock the minors with future pitching talent.

    Top of the mind rant. I don't know how coherent this is but this sweep pisses me off. The only team to get swept - The MN Twins Record for most playoff losses in a row - The MN Twins Team that allowed the Yankees to score 7 runs in one inning (a Yankee record) The MN Twins This team was out pitched, out defensed, out coached, out everything. 101 wins and a HR record isn't acceptable. Fans must demand more than that. I'll take 90 wins and a World Series appearance. This team needs to shore up its defense in a huge way and pick up one front line pitcher. Graterol better not be seen as a bullpen pitcher or I'm done. The Astros have proven starters can throw 98mph and start a game. Bring Odo back - he's worth it as a #2 or #3 pitcher. Teams that win World Series don't settle for this result, the fan base certainly shouldn't either.

    There's going to be a lot of home runs and there's going to be some atrocious pitching. What's going to win the series will be defense. A costly error toward the end of a game or two will be the deciding factor.

    12-15 million a year will keep him here for another 4 or 5 years as a third baseman. There's no reason he can't develop as a more than adequate defensive player. This wouldn't be the first Twins team to have a young 3rd sacker come up and play less than avg defense (Gaetti, Koskie). They made themselves top tier defensive players and with a little hard work and dedication Sano can do the same. He has a cannon for an arm and shows the ability to charge the ball despite his size. If he moves to 1st base now it's making a move just to make a move.

    Gibson has pitched well against the Yankees. He has the stuff to strike out a strike out prone team. He'll be perfect for the opener/primary or relief position. He'll be able to eat up innings in the case of a blowout. He's got plenty of experience and he's earned it by fighting through a debilitating disease. Put him on the roster.

    Location, location, location. In ESPN's world nobody cares about the midwest unless it's the Cubs.

    Berrios is still not the ace pitcher people want him to be. Ace pitchers don't give up a three run lead to a never ran during a pennant race. Ace pitcher put those teams to bed and don't give them a chance to get up. In regard to Rosario. I don't understand the unwillingness to give him a day off. Attitude, poor plate discipline, or poor defense are all legit reasons to give him a day off to reevaluate and examine what he needs to do to turn his game around. How long does it take to know that he's going to reach for an outside pitch and pop it up when there's a guy on base? I still see the Indians losing a couple of games the rest of the way. Chicago could easily steal one and going to Washington and losing the DH will have an effect on their lineup (bad scheduling by MLB).

    Pineda should go into free agency with the belief he owes the Twins one year. There's two reasons for this: 1) He was paid millions to rehab last year. 2) He was an important part of the staff and he got caught doping. He owes the team one full year of 100% honest effort.

    Eddie needs to relax. He looks more serious than Jorge Polanco.

    The only HR's that will mater will be the ones we hit against the Yankees in the postseason.

    Byron Buxton is perilously close to becoming a "could have been". Echoes of John Castino are getting louder.

    You can't give a middle of the rotation pitch a QO. If the team is going to spend top 125 money then do it on a proven top of the rotation pitcher in free agency. While it would be good to see him come back the #1 priority of the free agent pitchers is Pineda.

    Since we've got Gibby on the shelf for at least one game why not give him some company with Berrios? We've got enough pitching help with the Sept. 1 call ups that it won't decimate our bullpen. His last game against Chicago, while considered a "quality start", was far from a good start. That kind of performance won't win any games against quality playoff teams or even above avg teams like the upcoming Red Sox.

    Robbie Grossman rated as the best defensive left fielder in the MLB. What kind of bizarro world have we entered?

    "while sending their ace, José Berríos to the mound." As I've been saying for the past month. He is not an ace. What Giolito did to us was "Ace" worthy. If you're an "Ace" you don't get rocked by the worst team in MLB (could be one of the worst ever). Berrios needs to be shelved on the 10 day IL, miss a start, go take a vacation for a week. Do anything but place a ball in his tired body. He's obviously not built for the long run (as yet) so get him some time off. If they are waiting until September call ups it may be too late as this pennant run could come down to one meaningful August game.
