  1. Hildenberger has gotten the majority of 9th inning save chances since Rodney was traded. In this particular game, what is your better alternative? Rogers and May had already been used. Most of the rest down there aren’t better.
  2. Don’t know how cbs’ pitch tracker compares to others, but it shows pitches 5 and 6 very much in the zone.
  3. Walking Gordon is the “book” move, but Perez kills the Twins.
  4. I’m not an ad exec, but I would be willing to bet that maximum audience is at the beginning of the broadcast, eg 7 pm for a 7:10 start time.
  5. Anyone else getting annoying walmart popups on gameday? I’ve given up on it and switched to whatever cbs calls theirs. I don’t get them with any other website, so I don’t think the issue is my phone.
  6. Sal Perez got an RBI against the Twins. Lather, rinse, repeat.
  7. You do understand that commercials are what drives the revenue that the Twins (and every other team) make from their broadcast rights?
  8. As long as he continues to post a 2.7 bWAR. Kepler is not one of the problems with this team. People need to stop thinking he is.
  9. There are exactly six (6) relievers making more than $12 mil per year. Three of them are with the Yankees, who always overpay. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/rankings/relief-pitcher/ What relievers out there do you think will command $12 to $18 mil per year?
  10. I think Field came up because of Rosario’s injury not so much the Buxton situation. The Twins still had plenty of outfielders without Field and Buxton until Rosario got hurt. Field really hasn’t played that much even with easing Rosario i to action.
  11. How did Polanco come in to a conversation about Gordon?
  12. Some people are just good at putting the bat on the ball. Usually, they sacrifice power. Joe Mauer, for example.
  13. Trout for Buxton. Straight up.
  14. They had to play Mauer somewhere. He wasn’t fast enough to play outfield. He probably would have worked at third, but it’s way too late now. I don’t know if I would call Matt Duffy “successful”. I’d call him cheap and replacement level. Trying to build a career based on one good year.
  15. Escobar has barely played shortstop the last two years. Any metrics taken from those handful of games should be taken with a tubful of salt.
  16. 3rd time through the order, Yankees were 1 for 7, with a double and a walk. That’s 2 good third trips in his last 4 starts. Baby steps.
  17. Meh, force equals mass times acceleration. Astudilllo was probably slowing down by the time he reached home.
  18. From the article: despite how a concussion had already derailed the career of teammate Joe Mauer, Oops.
  19. Escobar has played primarily 3b the last two years. Where he is a below average fielder. I’m not sure any team would view him as even passable anywhere else. Not that Vargas is a gold glover.
  20. The drop off on the offensive side is more concerning than pitching. Starting pitching anyway. In terms of ERA, Twins starters went from 19th to 23rd. A lot of that drop is Phil Hughes, early Lance Lynn and the struggles of call ups like Gonsalves, Littel, etc. Berrios, Gibson, Odorizzi and Lynn (since the start of May) have been pretty good. No one will confuse them with Houston or Cleveland’s rotation, but they have been good enough to win games if they had gotten the run support this same team supplied last year.
  21. That probably has more to do with the perception that next year’s starting OFers are set in stone. It’s time for the kid gloves to come off with regards to Buxton. If he doesn’t produce, he shouldn’t play IMO.
  22. One of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn’t belong. Kepler has “regressed” from a 95 OPS+ last year to 101 in 2018 and a 2.0 bWAR to 2.7 with a couple weeks to go.
  23. Gordon probably won’t hit enough to have him at a corner.
  24. Yes, I would agree that Astudillo has likely consumed more cake than well, probably only Buxton by now. The rest of those guys are much older.
