  1. I'm not so sure. As has been mentioned, he's not "in line" to make that start. However, he is perfectly lined up to start game one of the ALDS. Garcia would be on normal rest for the wild card game assuming he starts Saturday and then again next Thursday. Perhaps the Twins as a whole team have the same ops vs LH starters, but that includes Miguel Sano. He's not a given to return. He has a 1.011 OPS vs LHP this year. It's a noticeable hole in the lineup vs LHP.
  2. Here's just one example, that happens to be from last night. He pulls Mejia (which, I am actually fine with) to bring in Dillon Gee to face Miguel Cabrera. Cabrera was 4 for 6 with 2 HR against Gee before last night. That Cabrera got a hit that extended the inning and, very briefly, made the game interesting, was entirely predictable. There has to be somebody in that pen that has a better mark than that against Cabrera. That is flat out poor bullpen management.
  3. How about the average 24 old? Anecdotally, younger guys usually don't get the nagging type injuries that start hitting guys in their late 20s and through their 30s. Injuries like strains and pulls are injuries that put older guys on the shelf. Younger guys usually get the freakish injuries involving breaking bones and tearing tendons.. Which is what at least two of Sano's injuries were. I honestly don't know about the third. He could just be unlucky that way.
  4. This guy would be great if the teams were playing cricket.
  5. Ausmus must love bringing in a guy who walks the lead off man, who is hitting .083, in a 12-1 game.
  6. Maybe Jaye just isn't good, Tom.
  7. Yeah, I think I would be fine with 1 mound visit in innings 1-6 and 2 from 7 onward. There has been at least 4 this inning so far.
  8. That was a gift strike call on the previous batter.
  9. Apparently he married Clark Griffith's daughter. Clark traded him that year... They make me long for Roy Smalley...
  10. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  11. I think Belisle gets an inning tonight regardless of the score. He hasn't pitched in almost a week. Even 10 pitches. Even if they have to pull him mid inning. Right now, the lead looks safe. The Twins need him to stay sharp.
  12. Does Molitor not look stats up? How does he not know Cabrera was 4 for 6 against Gee? Not saying I would have left Mejia in, but I'm using someone not named Dillon Gee.
  13. A curious saying. My wife runs a daycare. Have you ever tried to take candy (or frankly anything that it REALLY wants) from a baby? When your eardrums rupture, you will understand the way babies CAN inflict pain.
  14. Big inning for Mejia. Needs to hang a zero.
  15. The Twins want Seattle and Oakland to win all their games down the stretch and split their head to head games.
  16. That's half of his pro seasons. I would consider that a very high amount for a guy that isn't a pitcher.
  17. I'm telling ya, the problem is that the Twins can't stop staring at the pin stripes.
  18. Sure. Any given Sunday. Just don't pretend that the Twins winning two games in July facing pitchers and a lineup they wouldn't see in October means anything.
  19. I wouldn'tmind having Gee around. Problematically, he's going to want to go where he has a shot to start - that's where the money is. He would probably have a SHOT here. But that would mean Falvine accomplished little during the offseason pitching wise.
  20. The Twins have beaten the Yankees twice this year. In one game, the Twins won 4-2, against Bryan Mitchell and Caleb Smith - two guys who did not pitch this week and who will certainly not pitch in the playoffs. The other win was against starter Jordan Montgomery. With the addition of Jaime Garcia, he probably now slots as the number 5, and also would not likely pitch important postseason innings. Additionally, Gary Sanchez was held out of game one and Aaron Judge did not start game 3. Guess what? Both will start every game in the playoffs barring injury. Point being, you can ignore the July series. The Yankees did.
  21. The Twins have them. They just aren't missing bats as well as their stuff suggests they should. In this group, would be Pressly, Busenitz (although his K rate has ticked up as he has gained experience: 4 K in first 10 IP, 16 K in 18 IP since), and even Tonkin. The problem for all 3 seems to be lack of command. All 3 have upper 90s gas and what, at times, can be a devastating breaking ball. But none of them can consistently place it. Busenitz is still young enough that one would expect improvement. Just about ready to cut bait with Pressly and Tonkin though. btw, on an elite bullpen, Hildenberger might be a long man. He hasn't been used that way recently at the MLB level, but he has been used in longer outings before.
  22. Rogers would likely be a loogy on most elite teams' bullpens. I can't say who he would replace on another team because I'm not familiar enough with their relievers.
  23. idk, funny things can happen in one game. Severino was off today. If he was off again and Erv pitched as well as he did in game 1, the Twins would be in position to win. If I am not mistaken, the road team actually has a pretty good record in this one and done format. Better than one might expect anyway. Although, the usual way for the upset is a hot team, which obviously does not describe the Twins right now.
  24. The Twins are better than the teams behind them but not as good as the teams ahead of them. Their head to head shows that to some degree. So, I would say they are exactly where they should be.
