So Batting titles and MVP is meaningless if you ground out to second occasionally
  2. LVTwinsfan
    Guess he’s ok

Never liked a bases empty bunt with two outs. It’s like passing the buck to the next guy. Two outs and bases empty you swing for the fences, or at least a double. JMO

One thing about Gardy, he’s good with young teams, they better get rid of him once the team matures though, he won’t win in the playoffs
  5. LVTwinsfan
    So, the Twins are good

For years I have berated the Twins for their apparent lack of concern on the importance of a starting pitching staff. Seeing Rick Anderson yesterday and Wes Johnson on our side, with the Twins winning 6-0, speaks volumes about which approaches actually work

Finally a team with what actually looks like a major league starting pitching staff. Even Gibson is a good fit as a #4 starter.

oh yay, the Twins beat the White Sox.

I don't know why anyone would even think Mauer is going to demand a huge contract with a long extension. Has he ever even hinted towards anything like that? A lot of the negativity around Mauer seems to be based on the assumption that he's a greedy ballplayer who cares about money more than anything else. I'd be willing to bet that if he wants to stick around he'll take whatever they offer him. And if I knew him, which I don't, but I have a feeling he would be happier playing for less money. I know I'm tired of hearing $23M every time he GIDP or goes 0 for 4, I'm sure he is too.

Even informed fans seem to retroactively react to his contract. I wonder how many of these same fans would have reacted if Mauer accepted a larger contract with the Yankees or Red Sox, or a list of other teams who would have paid him more than the Twins offered him. (I can see "fans" throwing quarters at him from the seats on $1 beer night)

one season...yeah he won three batting titles and an MVP in one season
  16. LVTwinsfan
I'm not undervaluing anything, I'm just saying he gets in

Rodney made Profar look bad there, oh wait, Profar is bad
  18. LVTwinsfan
one batting title doesn't say much, three does
  19. LVTwinsfan
HOF looks at your whole career, how many guys have 3 batting title and don't get in, too many Twins fans discount what Mauer did early in his career because injuries have hampered his abilities, I know many fans will dipute this but Mauer will get in the hall of fame....no doubt at all.
  20. LVTwinsfan
not a good reason to keep him at second base everyday
  21. LVTwinsfan
I'll post what I please thank you
  22. LVTwinsfan
It's a pretty good "half" a story, no catcher has ever done what he's done as a hitter.
  23. LVTwinsfan
Depends on what you could get for him
  24. LVTwinsfan
3 batting titles and an MVP as a catcher isn't good enough? I disagree, he gets in.
  25. LVTwinsfan
I think they get two out those three guys.
