  1. Ouch, I feel you on this one. I'm completely torn as well, but in the end I have to think about it like I would my son (yes he's a pitcher, so I guess that makes me more cautious). Shut him down, his future health is way more important than a few extra games for our enjoyment.
  2. Well said, although I think Kirilloff might still be a candidate due to him missing last year. Then again, I'm often known to be wrong and I sometimes have been known to eat crayons .
  3. Seth, I was wondering who you (and the rest of the TD writers) think would make good picks for the AFL this year?
  4. I see the walks still being a little high for him (Colina), but over his last ten starts he seems to be trending in the right direction. You're right Seth, this kid is definitely one to follow.
  5. Nice suggestion SF. I was just thinking that the other day, and the crown is pleased by your words .
  6. Hmm... that's some pretty good candidates for looks in the show. But I, like many of the writers/contributors, feel that Gonsalves has really worked himself to the point that he shouldn't be left out. He had a great spring and has, overall, had a good season in the minors. The FO is missing out, IMHO, if they pass him over again. Perhaps he fails miserably or is just Meh', but they really should find out. A close second for me would have to be Romero, he's shown already that he can be effective at the MLB already, bring him back. #FreeGonsalves!
  7. If by peripherals you mean more walks than K's... then yes definitely a AAAA filler
  8. Just because he throws sidearm, doesn't make it smoke and mirrors. It's simple... you leave a pitch up and middle in and major league hitters will promptly tear the stitching off. I will agree though that "something" does seem off with Hildy, and I really hope that it is just a slump and not anything more serious.
  9. Although on a sad note, Kirillof's average has tanked down to .369... so sad to see. I'm thinking that the Twins need to cut bait and move on.
  10. I concur, Jeffers has been flat out raking. It's impressive and encouraging to see him hit the ground running in his professional debut.
  11. If he was Army, I would say right around year 3(ish) he would be looking at his O-3 (CPT), but I can't really speak for the Chair Force's timeline for officers (can't imagine it's too much different though).
  12. ??? I think my montage isn't loading... I still feel sad
  13. I'm not really sure that I can say on is "better" than the other or has had "more" of an impact. To me and my limited intellect and vocabulary, I look at Puckett and Killebrew as two different (but equally important) eras of baseball. I was born to late to know or enjoy Harmon as a player (although my dad loves to talk about him, and thusly I got him an autographed Killebrew baseball shortly before he passed... Best.Xmas.Present.Ever ) and I, like many of us grew up and cultivated my love of baseball with Puckett on the field... but, I couldn't really say one is more important than the other. Both were and are equally important to the franchise during two different and distinct eras.
  14. I like Molly, I really do. But I just can't shake the feeling that he was a better player than he is a mananger. I think he has the ability to be a good instructor/teacher of the game to the younger players (I.E. hitting coach/roving instructor), but... when it comes to the being the Skipper, the HMFIC, the Big Kahuna, El Guapo the Macho Grande, (or...Pedro) I'm just not sure that he is the best fit for the team and it's players.
  15. Hard to say, but I still think Falvine did a pretty fair job with this deal. I'm at least curious to see how the new guys pan out.
  16. Well said Good Sir. We'll miss you Brian, Thank you for all you've done.
  17. Well, if that's the case, I wish you well Brian. Fair winds and following seas!
  18. I'd have to concur Tom. We saw him at the Jacksonville/Chattanooga game a couple of weeks ago and while my son was speaking with him very briefly before the game I noted that he looks in fantastic shape (he's bulked up a lot), but... yeah, something doesn't seem 100% with his arm despite the increase. Sometimes an arm just gives out and it's a real shame to see.
  19. Great write up Ted. Really appreciate the insight and thoughtfulness of the article.
  20. Well, #11, #19 and I couldn’t find the other guy. Hope it works out for us, and wish you well Esco, we’ miss you.
  21. He’s only 21. Most of the Twins college players have started in E Town. But I do agree, it’s great to see him tear it up thus far.
  22. We were at the Chattanooga game last night, and as Cody mentioned... they weren't clutch with RISP. Although the one caveat to that is Rooker. He absolutely scorched a groundball to the left side that the 3B for Jax had to make a ridiculous diving stop to grab and just barely beat the runner at second for the force (when Rooker makes solid contact, wow...). Bencomo didn't pitch all that poorly, but nothing he threw really jumped off the table though. He was sitting between 88-90 all night, although he did seem to have a fair changeup working. Other than that... he looks like your typical journeyman innings eater. *** Just remembered this... my son (who is a 14 y.o. pitcher just entering his Freshman year of HS) noticed this as soon as Bencomo through his first pitch. In his exact words, "Wow, see how flat his ball looks. It's almost like he has no movement on his FB."*** The real killer was the throwing error by Motter with two outs. It was a fairly hard hit grounder to short, and he would have had time to set his feet... but he rushed, and uncorked a throw that was two to three feet outside of Rooker's reach up the first base line. Wiel's homerun was a scorching line drive to left center that exited the park in a real hurry and was never in doubt.
  23. Why did Captain Hook cross the road?? To get to the Second Hand store... (insert groan here )
