  1. Raley looks like a good get. A nice feature on him here: http://lastwordonbaseball.com/2018/01/12/dodgers-top-30-prospects-luke-raley-27/
  2. Forsythe part of the return package. Full circle.
  3. Gahhh! Let's see what comes back to MN in the deal. Brian deserves a shot and here's hoping he gets it. Dozier went from a question mark to a Top 50 Twin of all time.
  4. Sano did make a baserunning mistake. Call me crazy, but I'd be willing to bet he doesn't get picked off again this year - these things happen and I can live with it. As for going 2-for-3 with a double, single, walk and an RBI...I have absolutely no problem with the strikeout. I would be careful about comparing Sano's struggles to Buxton's. Miguel Sano has had his fair share of slumps, but he was an All-Star last year, HR derby, and he has shown a far higher level of consistency in the majors. Buxton on the other hand might be relegated to being a defensive replacement, pinch runner, 4th-outfielder type. Or a career minor leaguer. He might do well to start thinking about Japan as a backup plan. Big difference.
  5. I got choked up and tears were welling in my eyes when Sano took that walk. That was his best at bat all night, and it led to the winning run! Nice to see him cut down on his swing and take what they gave him. Hard not to be really inspired by last night's effort from Miguel.
  6. Tyler Austin - first guy that's been traded to the Twins that I've heard of before. He made news last year when both he and A. Judge both hit HRs during the same game, on their first MLB at bats: https://gothamsn.com/tyler-austin-is-proving-himself-e42b6713b265 He was a hot name there for a second, even had a cup of coffee with the Yanks this year and was DH'ing against lefties. Haters can poo-poo this all they want, but getting a guy who might be ready soon (and a grab-bag reliever to boot) for Lance Lynn? Call me crazy but I like this one. Edited to add: Austin also served a 4-game suspension for charging the mound in Fenway. He's got some fire, I like it even more now.
  7. I don't blame the Twins for selling. What's made me feel uneasy is the "grab bag-style" returns they're getting. A bunch of single-A prospects, essentially just a handful of lottery tickets that might pay off in 2022. I never minded the phrase "Wait 'til next year". But when someone tells me "Wait until five years from now", that's irksome.
  8. Belisle has no business on a MLB roster. Release him and call up anyone else. Anyone. Tough night for Twins fans. Rosario's a beast!!! Looking forward to seeing if we can make any trades for AAA guys rather than these grab-bag, dime a dozen low-A players.
  9. Credit to Santana, he gritted this one out. Have to tip your cap to the guy. First MLB start in a long, long time. When Garver gets hot, he really is a great addition to this lineup! Twins score 12 runs, Morrison goes 0-4 with two K's and 3 men LOB. His batting average is now .192. Only Joey Gallo (who has 25 HR and 55 RBI) and Chris Davis (just plain terrible at .153) are worse among qualified batters. That's in all of MLB, not just the AL. That sweep to KC looks worse every day. Welp, on to Beantown. I would absolutely love to see the Twins go on a tear and win that series! I know it's a pipe dream, but that's what being a baseball fan's all about.

    The truth about Molitor

I agree that Molitor lacks fire, personality, and (at least visibly) heart. He's not the right guy to manage this team. I hope he is fired after the season, wish he'd been fired before the season.
  11. It's almost a blessing to come out of the gate with a 10-game roadie that includes a 4-gamer in Boston. The Twins won't be able to hide anything, we'll see very quickly if they are going to have a chance to compete for this division. If not, they still have a few days to work out some trades.
  12. I think they may have found a starter in Cave. He could be much more than just a 4th OF - and the Twins need all the talent they can get right now with Kepler struggling and Buxton off the radar.
  13. I think Torii Hunter got sent up-down a bunch of times. And how about that Max Muncey in LA? Dude's killing it right now, made the All-Star team and HR Derby at age 27. He got sent down, dumped, outrighted, re-assigned...seems to have found his stride, much to the chagrin of the Oakland A's. Guys like him are boogymen because it makes a team never want to give up on a player - just in case. But as for mega-stars? Bonds, Griffey, Trout, A-Rod, Jeter, Harper type guys? No. They weren't on the shuttle bus.
  14. To me, it's Buxton and it's not even close. Sano and Morrison...major disappointments, to be sure. But there's no doubt that both of them are MLB players and can compete at the MLB level - whether that's with the Twins, or someone else. While Morrison's career may be winding down, he's got the track record suggesting he'll catch up...that's not much, but it's something. Ditto for Sano. Aside from his massive slump after returning from his hamstring injury this season, he's been above average as a player for his entire career. He has a future and I'm guessing we'll see him back in Target Field soon. Buxton, on the other hand, is at the point in his career where people are legitimately questioning whether he's a major league-caliber player. Aside from a hot 2-month stretch last season, he's really not done much to merit a spot on the roster due to his offensive ineptitude. He's become an easy out in a league (and at a position) where players can't afford to be completely incompetent at the plate. We could be watching a documentary in 20 years titled "The Sure Thing That Wasn't" or something like that on ESPN. Sure, the Twins can be patient. But if he comes back next spring and struggles out of the gate...we could be facing the reality that Bux just ain't a major leaguer. He's got plenty of excuses but at some point you just have to do the thing.
  15. Went there a couple years ago. Yep, it's great. I actually think it's fine facing downtown...really hard to complain about anything at Petco. Nice review!
  16. Wow that's terrible, Tom! Seriously...might be bad on Molly, but also on whoever is telling him how/what to challenge. Great ending to a crazy and often frustrating game...9-2, I will take it.
  17. Amazing what a shot in the arm he's been. Team's looking good with Polanco in the lineup for sure.
  18. Great win...Gibby is so solid. Rosie might hit 35 dingers this year! Keep racking up wins, fellas. The first half ain't over yet, let's win this series. He also goes 0-4 with 2 strikeouts and leaves 5 men on base, unfortunately.
  19. Jake Cave is going to be our Max Muncey. I prefer seeing Cave's name in the lineup over Buxton. Go Twins, sweep TB!
  20. Went to the game. Got up in the 2nd inning to grab a hot dog, came back and it was 5-1. Slegers didn't have it, although I'd have preferred for Molitor to let the kid work his way through that 2nd and see if he could get deeper into the game. Watching Morrison round 2nd base as he tried to turn that double into a triple was painful. Like watching cement dry. Getting the first out at 3rd base is a no-no, that's Baserunning 101 stuff. The whole crowd groaned when he made that turn...I think a few of the mascot race participants were faster than LoMo. Think we spent $50 on food-drinks and we didn't consume any alcohol. Prices weren't shocking but it still sucks to stop for a small coke and have them say "That'll be $6 bucks". Target Field makes airport food prices look cheap.
  21. I feel like the Twins might not win another game this season. Being a fan of this team feels like being a blackjack addict getting dealt 16 every hand. Just no real chance at all to win, and even those small number of times you get lucky, the dealer's showing an ace. You play one more hand because maybe THIS time you'll win. Kick yourself, repeat. Happy 4th! I'm taking a flight back to Minnesota today, all the way from Guatemala. I'm going to pack my winter jacket - I've got a 4-hour layover inside the Miami Airport, after all.
  22. Not sure any contenders want to deal with Rodney, looks like his value has pretty much already imploded. The Twins need to sell, and just about every asset we'd like to sell is at an all-time low, unfortunately! Can the guys just win a damn game, pleeeeezzze?
