  1. Very weird to see so much Jake Cave hate and skepticism. I would've thought everyone would have loved seeing this guy develop into what looks like could be an every day outfielder next year. Cave has been a significant upgrade at the plate over Buxton and seems to play decent defense. He should be starting every day on this team right now, and until Buxton proves he can hit, Cave should be above Byron on the depth chart. He's ahead of Bux right now in my eyes. There I said it.
  2. We could complain about Hildy, and Magill allowing all 3 inherited runners to score today...but what's the fun in that? The Twins won, the 'pen has indeed pitched pretty well this series. The guys you mentioned are performing well indeed. Fun seeing the Twins make a bit of a run. Looking forward to the big debut tomorrow for Gonsalves!
  3. Where would the Twins be without Rosario this year? I shudder to think. What a fantastic player and this team is very lucky to have what looks like one of baseball's premier outfielders. Gonsalves! Woohoo! Side note: I thought that Phil Miller tweet said "Brian Dozier contributed all 6 HR himself" and I was really confused for a minute. Now I get it.
  4. Going for 5 in a row today, all aboard!
  5. I agree that The Twins owe it to themselves (and Santana) to continue to roll him out there. Gibby had a run of bad starts last year and he got better, you don't just throw away next year's possible #3 or #4 starter because he's bombing in what basically amounts to Spring Training.
  6. Okay, so my new fantasy is that the Twins finish .500. Who's with me!
  7. I'm happy Logan Forsythe is playing well. And that's about it. He's a warm, veteran body who can play 2nd base. He is hitting well in a low-pressure situation with nothing to lose. I am glad to see it. What to do with him? I think the Twins will do what they planned all along: have Logan Forsythe fill in at 2nd base until the season is over.
  8. Nice to see a game where everything went how it was supposed to. Odorizzi with a strong outing. Polanco and Sano with big hits. A nice night from the bullpen. It was sort of like watching What Could've Been.
  9. Agree with Riverbrian. No way should the Twins call up Buxton and burn a year of service time just because he has a nice August in Rochester. Full stop. Period. End of story. Buxton has given the Twins exactly 3 good months of baseball over the course of 3 seasons. What about taking a look at some other players instead? If Buxton shows up with a chip on his shoulder next spring, so be it. We already know Buxton can hit MLB pitching in September. He does it every year. The Twins need to see Buxton hit in April, May, June, and July. Calling him up next week serves no purpose other than to create more discord and confusion in the Byron Buxton saga.
  10. Agreed. I have zero interest in a 34 year-old 2nd baseman whose stock is falling like a rock joining the Twins. I hope the front office feels the same. Escobar would be a great fit but something tells me a reunion isn't as likely as we all hope.
  11. Speedy recovery, LoMo. Hopefully he's healthy next year and can go play for one of the 29 other teams. Sano quietly has gone about his business and is helping this team.
  12. Woah man, take it easy on Santana. He was arguably the main reason the Twins made the post-season last year. I think he more than made up for his injuries/suspension with an amazing run last year as a true ace in a tough American League. "He sucks"? Not cool.
  13. If Belisle is closing next week we will all feel very sad. Time for new blood. I don't mind the return arm. Here's hoping the new kid recovers.
  14. Here's hoping Mejia's wrist is OK. The guy's been effective and seems to have earned a spot in the rotation moving forward. Shutting down the Tribe on the road, tip your cap to him. Garver's hit held up, nice to see him contributing. Hildy's given up 11 earned runs over his past 14 innings pitched.
  15. Turned it on and the Twins were down 2-0 in the 1st. The next inning, Rosario struck out on a pitch over his head, and I pretty much thought "yeah, these guys aren't coming back". This game didn't look appealing from a Twins fan perspective from the get-go. The FO is just grinding the fans down with this Belisle stuff. Just keep rolling him out there until we finally don't care enough to complain.
  16. The MLB non-waiver trade deadline was July 31st at 4:00pm. You can't just wait until mid-August and trade a guy whenever you want, unfortunately.
  17. Grossman reportedly sent to the DL. Motter? Or will we get to see Austin?
  18. Don't forget OBPS - the only stat that anyone seems to care about these days. Mauer was in the Top 20 in MLB last year in both on-base percentage and batting average, played great defense...but was considered a below-average player because of his OBPS. Just weird seeing guys who bat .300 get called out for not being good enough anymore.
  19. Breaking: Twins have selected the contract of Aaron From St. Cloud, Matt Belisle DFA'd.
  20. Meanwhile, Dozier goes 3-4 with a homer and the Dodgers win in extras. Agony!
  21. I agree with every single thing you said here! I'm hopeful that May gets better, but he's never really been great. He's a middle reliever with a career ERA of 5.14 in over 100 games. That said, I'd give him a long leash for the rest of the year so the Twins can see if anything has changed. If not, might be time to just take him out of the plans. Hope he turns the corner, seems like a great guy and a good teammate. New day, new Belisle screw up. Are the Twins really going to be handcuffed financially if they cut him? There must be some reason they haven't pulled the trigger, so I'm thinking it must be in the fine print. Every other MLB team would have dumped him at least a month ago. Gibby battled! Here's hoping the Twins can eek one out today and take the series.
  22. Yeah, that's the downside. I was hoping that moving Dozier meant that Gordon would be given a shot...at least give us a reason to watch the last couple months. Forsythe's 2018 stats: .207 2 HR 13 RBI Wow, he fell off a cliff.
