  1. Nice to see a game where everything went how it was supposed to. Odorizzi with a strong outing. Polanco and Sano with big hits. A nice night from the bullpen. It was sort of like watching What Could've Been.
  2. Agree with Riverbrian. No way should the Twins call up Buxton and burn a year of service time just because he has a nice August in Rochester. Full stop. Period. End of story. Buxton has given the Twins exactly 3 good months of baseball over the course of 3 seasons. What about taking a look at some other players instead? If Buxton shows up with a chip on his shoulder next spring, so be it. We already know Buxton can hit MLB pitching in September. He does it every year. The Twins need to see Buxton hit in April, May, June, and July. Calling him up next week serves no purpose other than to create more discord and confusion in the Byron Buxton saga.
  3. Agreed. I have zero interest in a 34 year-old 2nd baseman whose stock is falling like a rock joining the Twins. I hope the front office feels the same. Escobar would be a great fit but something tells me a reunion isn't as likely as we all hope.
  4. Speedy recovery, LoMo. Hopefully he's healthy next year and can go play for one of the 29 other teams. Sano quietly has gone about his business and is helping this team.
  5. Woah man, take it easy on Santana. He was arguably the main reason the Twins made the post-season last year. I think he more than made up for his injuries/suspension with an amazing run last year as a true ace in a tough American League. "He sucks"? Not cool.
  6. If Belisle is closing next week we will all feel very sad. Time for new blood. I don't mind the return arm. Here's hoping the new kid recovers.
  7. Here's hoping Mejia's wrist is OK. The guy's been effective and seems to have earned a spot in the rotation moving forward. Shutting down the Tribe on the road, tip your cap to him. Garver's hit held up, nice to see him contributing. Hildy's given up 11 earned runs over his past 14 innings pitched.
  8. Turned it on and the Twins were down 2-0 in the 1st. The next inning, Rosario struck out on a pitch over his head, and I pretty much thought "yeah, these guys aren't coming back". This game didn't look appealing from a Twins fan perspective from the get-go. The FO is just grinding the fans down with this Belisle stuff. Just keep rolling him out there until we finally don't care enough to complain.
  9. The MLB non-waiver trade deadline was July 31st at 4:00pm. You can't just wait until mid-August and trade a guy whenever you want, unfortunately.
  10. Grossman reportedly sent to the DL. Motter? Or will we get to see Austin?
  11. Don't forget OBPS - the only stat that anyone seems to care about these days. Mauer was in the Top 20 in MLB last year in both on-base percentage and batting average, played great defense...but was considered a below-average player because of his OBPS. Just weird seeing guys who bat .300 get called out for not being good enough anymore.
  12. Breaking: Twins have selected the contract of Aaron From St. Cloud, Matt Belisle DFA'd.
  13. Meanwhile, Dozier goes 3-4 with a homer and the Dodgers win in extras. Agony!
  14. I agree with every single thing you said here! I'm hopeful that May gets better, but he's never really been great. He's a middle reliever with a career ERA of 5.14 in over 100 games. That said, I'd give him a long leash for the rest of the year so the Twins can see if anything has changed. If not, might be time to just take him out of the plans. Hope he turns the corner, seems like a great guy and a good teammate. New day, new Belisle screw up. Are the Twins really going to be handcuffed financially if they cut him? There must be some reason they haven't pulled the trigger, so I'm thinking it must be in the fine print. Every other MLB team would have dumped him at least a month ago. Gibby battled! Here's hoping the Twins can eek one out today and take the series.
  15. Yeah, that's the downside. I was hoping that moving Dozier meant that Gordon would be given a shot...at least give us a reason to watch the last couple months. Forsythe's 2018 stats: .207 2 HR 13 RBI Wow, he fell off a cliff.
  16. Raley looks like a good get. A nice feature on him here: http://lastwordonbaseball.com/2018/01/12/dodgers-top-30-prospects-luke-raley-27/
  17. Forsythe part of the return package. Full circle.
  18. Gahhh! Let's see what comes back to MN in the deal. Brian deserves a shot and here's hoping he gets it. Dozier went from a question mark to a Top 50 Twin of all time.
  19. Sano did make a baserunning mistake. Call me crazy, but I'd be willing to bet he doesn't get picked off again this year - these things happen and I can live with it. As for going 2-for-3 with a double, single, walk and an RBI...I have absolutely no problem with the strikeout. I would be careful about comparing Sano's struggles to Buxton's. Miguel Sano has had his fair share of slumps, but he was an All-Star last year, HR derby, and he has shown a far higher level of consistency in the majors. Buxton on the other hand might be relegated to being a defensive replacement, pinch runner, 4th-outfielder type. Or a career minor leaguer. He might do well to start thinking about Japan as a backup plan. Big difference.
  20. I got choked up and tears were welling in my eyes when Sano took that walk. That was his best at bat all night, and it led to the winning run! Nice to see him cut down on his swing and take what they gave him. Hard not to be really inspired by last night's effort from Miguel.
  21. Tyler Austin - first guy that's been traded to the Twins that I've heard of before. He made news last year when both he and A. Judge both hit HRs during the same game, on their first MLB at bats: https://gothamsn.com/tyler-austin-is-proving-himself-e42b6713b265 He was a hot name there for a second, even had a cup of coffee with the Yanks this year and was DH'ing against lefties. Haters can poo-poo this all they want, but getting a guy who might be ready soon (and a grab-bag reliever to boot) for Lance Lynn? Call me crazy but I like this one. Edited to add: Austin also served a 4-game suspension for charging the mound in Fenway. He's got some fire, I like it even more now.
  22. I don't blame the Twins for selling. What's made me feel uneasy is the "grab bag-style" returns they're getting. A bunch of single-A prospects, essentially just a handful of lottery tickets that might pay off in 2022. I never minded the phrase "Wait 'til next year". But when someone tells me "Wait until five years from now", that's irksome.
