    Cruz to have MRI it appears. Hope he's okay, this team needs him big time.

    Perez hurt. Cruz hurt. Hildenberger bad! This team pops out like crazy. Turned the game on in the 7th only to watch several pop-ups that didn't leave the infield. Nobody's immune, seems to be just about every player on the Twins does this at least once per game. Easy to be bitter and over-complain when the Twins lose, I guess. Still very happy with this team. Tigers seemed to have some fire. That closer for Detroit is money, wish the Twins had a guy like that in the pen. Seems hard to imagine this team going deep into October without at least two legit shutdown guys in the 'pen. Are Rogers and Parker really going to carry this team all season? I am sure the Twins will trade for someone in July, that'll be interesting for sure.

    Pineda with the quality start yesterday BTW - and Stewart had one too. How many QS in a row is that for the Twins? Wow. Hildy was the lone black mark but I don't second-guess putting him in there. We have Rogers fresh for today if needed, Perez on the mound, and the Twins are in good position to take 3-of-4 which is what they wanted out of this series. Astudillo is back. Sano is reportedly going to spend a couple weeks down in AAA because they want him to get used to playing every day... Adrianza is out of options but valuable as both a PR and a defensive infielder. La Tortuga is going to have to play his behind off in the next two weeks. Otherwise I fear it'll be AAA for Willians. As much as we all complain about Adrianza, he has value and with no options it's hard to imagine the Twins would just give him away. If that's the biggest problem the Twins have in the foreseeable future, things are going well!

    A player with similar numbers to Kepler right now is Joc Pederson. Not sure what that says, but it's interesting. We focus on Kepler's offense (as well we should) but he plays a very nice RF and can move to center without any problems. So far he seems to fit pretty well in this aggressive Twins lineup. I'd still like to see him take more pitches at the top of the order but I'm not going to make a big deal of it. Plenty of time left this season to make adjustments.

    Does Astudillo come off the IL and play 3rd today in Marwin's absense? Or are the Twins going to play Adrianza in both games? You'd think this would be an ideal time to activate La Tortuga. From all reports he's ready....or maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part. Hope Gonzalez is OK and not affected in any way long-term. We've seen those blows to the head derail careers.

    Congrats to Perez on his new addition to the family, he's doing the right thing taking some time away. Maybe a little rest will do him good. Team's on fire right now. Those bad games in NYY seem like a long time ago. Getting used to winning every night is fun. Rosario trying to hit HRs every time up or what? Someone should tell him that he doesn't need to do that...plenty of HRs to go around. Kepler with 8 now? Wow.

    Did anyone catch that moonshot Buxton hit that went just foul? 5th deck. Cruz went 0-for-6 and this team still scored 9 runs. This team has so many quality hitters, and as long as 2-3 of them are hot any given night, they can carry a team. Last night it was Cron, Polanco, Rosario. Another night it might be Schoop, Cruz, Kepler or Garver. Buxton and Gonzales are the two weakest hitters and even they can do damage. Throw in solid pitching like you saw during this series and this team can be very good. I think they are mentally tough as well. Best record in MLB on May 9, we'll take it. Hope we're in the same position on June 9.

    Cave and Astudillo (I fear) will be spending much of the season in Rochester. Adrianza and the extra bullpen guys will stay. It's just the conservative type of move that seems most likely to me, having watched this team.

    Woof, those top Twins prospects (Rooker, Larnach, Lewis!!) are off to some really bad starts. It's nice to know that Gordon and Kiriloff are at least swinging the bat well early. And Sano...nice. Let's keep it up big guy. I'd like to see him in the middle of this lineup in a couple weeks. Should be fun. Really disappointed in the NYY series. In the end, we lost the series and shouldn't be impressed that the Twins managed to play one good game at Yankee Stadium. The two games that bookended the series were two of the worst games to watch all season, anywhere in the majors. Toronto gave the Twins major problems at Target Field. Hope we can return the favor starting tonight.

    Rosario is on an 0-20 skid, someone mentioned he's down to .236. Not worried, just would be nice to get him going again. Was nice to see Buxton get a nice looking single and an SB. I hope Rowson sits down with him soon to talk about laying off that outside breaking ball. Pen had a nice day off yesterday. If Berrios is on today, they should be ready for New York.

    Coming off Tommy John and a 1.5 year layoff, I don't think we can expect #2 production from Big Mike unfortunately.

    In his defense, facing the Astros in back-to-back starts (one start in a band-box, the other in an ice-box) isn't exactly the ideal situation for any pitcher. Just wait until Pineda faces the White Sox, Royals, Tigers et al, he'll be a 10 win guy when it's all said and done.

    Worst game of the year. Six hits in two games. I guess at this point you just gotta have faith that the offense will pick it up tonight. Maybe next time the Twins have a fire sale they can get some MLB-ready arms in return. Getting a haul of low-A pitchers in trades doesn't do you any good if a window of competition opens up the next year.

    Kepler's the type of guy who - when he gets on these hot streaks - makes you quickly forget all of his flaws. It's nice to see him coming around. Aside from Gonzalez, I think just about every Twin offensively is meeting or exceeding expectations. It's like best case scenario for just about everyone on offense. I'll take the sweep. Very interested in watching this Astros series. Sure wish the Twins could have caught a break and maybe played the 'Stros later in the summer instead of back-to-back like this. That said, this crappy weather may work in our favor (although the Twins don't seem to like playing in it much either). Jake the Astro Tamer is on the mound to start the series, looking forward to seeing if he can do it again!

    Gotta say I've been encouraged with Perez the last couple starts. No walks! I love that. Give up a few hits, fine....but don't give out free passes. Didn't see much of the game, just the first inning. Turned it on later to see La Tortuga get his base rap. Great to see the Twins taking care of business against teams like the O's.

    Nats just called up rookie infield prospect Kierboom to play every day in the IF somewhere also. Looks like the Nationals are already moving Dozier to a backup or platoon role.

    Tonight's game felt like a sacrifice before it even started. Adrianza, Castro, etc. To Adrianza's credit, dude got a hit off Verlander. I think at some point the Twins are going to have to start putting Astudillo in at 3B or Catcher at least 5 times per week. That means Gonzalez and Castro lose playing time. They don't deserve it. Here's hoping Sano is just practicing that swing like crazy and eating heart-healthy lettuce wraps every night. He comes back healthy, Gonzalez goes into a true backup role and gets 2-3 starts per week max. Might as well have rested Buxton, since the game was a forfeit anyway. I'm headed back to the Twin Cities next week, think I'll be able to see the Astros in person at Target Field on Monday or Tuesday!

    Stewart has surprised before. Didn't he pitch a great game against Houston last year, in fact? He just can't walk guys. The walks. The walks. The walks. Enough already. Twins pitchers should not be walking guys ike Tyler White or Yuli Gurriel. Goodness. Gibson, Odorizzi, Pineda and Perez...a couple of average veterans, a guy coming off a major injury, and a rebuilding project. Good grief it looks like the staff of a team like the Orioles or Royals. Gio Gonzalez is available now...what do you all think of that guy? Seriously that Houston lineup is stacked. I don't know how you can win a playoff series against them without elite pitching.

    I think there's some grand misconception about May, and I'm not sure where it got started. He's never been super efficient or effective for a long stretch of time. He's got a career ERA of about 5.00. There's nothing "not right" about May at this point - this is just who he is, I think. Not saying he's bad - he can strike guys out with the best of 'em and when he's on, he's very useful. But at this point if you get 1-2 outs from him, maybe get him out of the game before he inevitably blows up. That's why Parker, Hildy, and Rogers are getting the 9th innings. May was in that discussion in Spring Training but he's clearly behind those guys on the depth charts.

    The egg the Twins laid against Toronto seems like a million years ago right now. This team is 13-7, 1.5 games ahead in the division. 8-3 on the road 5-4 at home

    If the Twins keep playing well, and Buxton continues to hit .275 in the 9 hole, I see no reason to move him. I like what others have said: don't rush this guy. Don't put the spotlight on him. Let him hang out at the bottom of the lineup, see pitches, just let 'em be. As others have also said, I agree that maybe batting him ahead of Castro would be the only flip I'd make. So maybe up him to the 8 spot or something by July. But in the meantime just leave the kid alone. Now...if the Twins take a huge nosedive in the standings, Kepler goes down with an injury, now you start thinking about putting Buxton there out of necessity. But unless a need presents itself, don't touch Buxton right now. Just my opinion.

    Great win. Harper was going to get touched up at some point - he's not a "high leverage" guy and this is exactly why. I guess what I'm saying is, it'd bother me a lot more if we lost. Nice to have a game where the Twins could use both Mejia and Harper and get some other guys some rest - against the Astros, no less! That defensive play by Rosario/Schoop was huge. Rosie and Polanco are playing just great and this team is fun to watch right now. Let's go steal one tonight! So you're proposing something more like...this?
