  1. I was hoping for a trade with the RedSox. I wanted Ellsbury.
  2. Brad Hand would look good in a Twins uniform.
  3. I think the vascular TOS is a harder recovery than the neurological TOS that Archer had and post-surgery performance is affected less. The surgical procedures and rehabs that some athletes endure are truly amazing. Signing Archer to a low $ front-end performance-based contract could provide value if the Twins feel he could pitch as a starter. But if the fastball doesn't zip and the sinker don't sink, maybe not.
  4. Still have my Circular U of M MIT slide rule. It's a good thing plastic doesn't rust.
  5. It's all good. Just trying to inject some humor as the Padres suck up a lot of the quality pitching resources.
  6. You must have missed the sarcasm font.
  7. Padres acquire the whirling Darvish for half their minor league system. In other news, Padres GM A.J. Preller has offered Petco Park to the country of India for the Taj Mahal. When asked if having to play games in the Taj Mahal might prove to be a logistic impossibility, Preller responded with, "C'mon man, it's the Taj Mahal."
  8. So now the Padres have also signed Ha-Seong Kim; it's not going to leave anybody for the Bluejays.
  9. One less "Ace" picher we have to face.
  10. Alex Wood definitely brings value if healthy but seems to be taking the Rich Hill career path. Villar is interesting. Doesn't really have a middle infielder's body at 6-0, 233lb. but has a nice combo of switch hitting, power, speed and versatility. Sure would make a decent super utility guy. Don't know what kind of clubhouse guy he is. If Tyler Chatwood could find some consistency and control he could be a terror on the mound. That 1.51 whip ain't gonna cut it though. Foltynewicz could win the comeback player of the year for somebody, or his arm could fall off, anybody's guess. Nice list Tom.
  11. Somebody ought to hire Nick Punto as a base coach just for the fun of it.
  12. Twins released Romero and is rumored that he will sign with the Yokohama BayStars in Japan. Twins to get approx. $300k.
  13. The Cleveland Culture Kings.
  14. How about "Wind Riders"?
  15. Fun fact out of Witchita: Before he became known as Billy the Kid, Henry McCarty lived in Wichita with his mother and brother for about a year in 1870. On July 21, 1870, 124 people signed a petition to incorporate Wichita. There was only one female on that list: Henry’s mother, Catherine McCarty.
  16. It doesn't seem fair to a team if a player is long-term injured yet accrues the time required to be available to be drafted away by another team. But I guess it affects all teams equally as the Twins did have the opportunity to protect players from being exposed to the Rule 5 Draft. It must be kind of weird for the player too if he is still in rehab or recovery as he changes teams and team coaching/medical staffs.
  17. Doesn't lessen the wonderment of his acquisition vs the pitchers we lost.
  18. Josh Mitchell: Lefty, he'll be 26 and not pitched above A+. Minor League ERA of 5.65 and 1.53 WHIP. He must have magic stashed away in his arm they hope to tap into.
  19. Jhonleider Salinas: His career minor league stat line looks like a Nolan Ryan season. 19-10 WL, 3.10 ERA, 288-211-171-290 (IP-H-W-K) with 23 HBP.
  20. Thats right, the Florida Miracle have bee rebranded as the Mighty Mussels, including a new logo that, frankly, if someone asked me, "what is that?" I'd be at a loss for words.
  21. A remote MLB Winter Meeting . . . that sounds like fun. I guess we'll have to play some remote golf then. Sure will save on the bar tab though.
  22. Just the fact that we still have Smeltz and Raley helped us get Maeda makes this a good trade for the Twins. I'm not sure either Dozier or Forsythe have much value left. Of course if Raley provides quality MLB at bats for a few years, it could tip the balance.
  23. I blame China.
