  1. Strotman had very good control before TJ surgery in 2018, came back in the second half of 2019, then missed 2020. I’m not worried about his control, he just needs reps. His scouting report shows 60 command.
  2. I see what you did there. Except it’s not just a couple good starts. He’s been successful at every stop, from his freshman year of college. I hope he is the Twins no. 5 starter. That just means the other four are better. But I believe, given good health, that Ober will be in the rotation for many years. And be very successful.
  3. I’ll say it. I wear Bailey Ober colored glasses. This guy is not a number 5 starter. He is a potential playoff caliber starter. The four seamer plays up because of his release point being so much closer to home plate than the average pitcher. He has great command. The games I’ve seen, which is all but one, when he gets tagged, it’s been the change up that hurts him. If he can stay healthy, he will be a mlb starter for a long time. You can tell he is very deceptive when guys are consistently late swinging at a 92-94 mph fastball.
  4. I see Canterino is back on the mound for FM. Two clean innings.
  5. Harmon Killebrew. He was the everyday LF from’62-64. Played in 470 games as Twins starting LF. Allison started 472. Harmon averaged 47 hr’s as LF. Of those listed, only Rosario and Allison played more LF.
  6. I thought I had heard that his change-up was much improved as well. 99, plus change, good curve, high floor. Got to love the potential here. He could leap-frog the pitchers ahead of him this year.
  7. Looks like Cincinnati is having a fire sale. Luis Castillo is rumored to be available, as well as Sonny Gray. The cost in prospects would be huge, but Castillo has three years of control remaining. Either one would be a good get, but Castillo is an ace. The opportunities to get guys like this don’t come around that often.
  8. I believe Joe is deserving of induction (as are, IMO, Oliva and Kaat). But guys like Dimaggio, Killebrew and others didn’t get in first ballot. Joe DiMaggio had to wait, Joe Mauer should as well. First ballot induction should be rare, reserved for the Aaron, Mays, Mantle,Griffey,jr, and Maddox types.
  9. Obviously none of us think quite like Bauer does, but I would expect him to look for a multi-year deal with lots of player options. Basically he is in a position to have his cake, and eat it, too.
  10. I would like to think so also, but Buxton had his service time manipulated in 2018.
  11. Fun topic. I would add Joe Mays, Jim Hughes and Bill Zepp for consideration.
  12. Nicely done. I agree completely. He was snubbed.
  13. I would add Bob Allison to the list to consider. OPS- .827, OPS+127. Plus, a long run with the Twins.
  14. How about Kirilloff for Mitch Keller, from Cedar Rapids? Don’t see prospect for prospect deals much, but I would really rather have the high ceiling of Keller. I don’t think Archer or Musgrove have “ace” ceilings. Of course there’s more risk with Keller perhaps, but he’s already debuted, and to hell with the Yankees.
  15. Romero went on the IL with back problems last year. Struggled with them all year,IIRC. Historically in the minors he’s walked about 3 batters per nine. Not great, yet not ridiculously bad either. I am hoping he has another option year, he could still be good.
  16. It’s just my opinion, but I feel that Wheeler will be a bust. I’m no GM. Cincinnati has pitching, and glaring holes at middle infield and catcher. Padres have holes in the outfield. Miami has young pitching. Blockbuster trades do happen. If the Twins sign Wheeler, I certainly hope he’s successful.
  17. My apologies. Perhaps I should have said “ If Wheeler lives up to a 5/100 deal, I will have egg on my face.” Again, no snark intended.
  18. Absolutely. I don’t think Wheeler will provide much more production than Pineda. Big Mike would be much cheaper. Just my opinion. I’m no GM.
  19. If the Twins sign Wheeler, I will still be a fan. It just means that one of us will be able to say “I told you so.” No snark intended
  20. I’m just going by the speculated 5/100. If the cost is 6/140, no effing way.
  21. I’ll admit I don’t follow the Mets real close, but generally teams with 3 Aces don’t miss the playoffs. If you pay Wheeler 20 mil per, how much do you pay Berrios when his time comes? Plus, Wheeler has missed@ 3 of the last five years due to injury. The Twins have a lot of players approaching a big payday. I don’t trust that Wheeler will be healthy, and payroll will become a concern, especially if Wheeler misses more time.
  22. They may if they think you are overpaying, which is what Wheeler at 5/100 is, imo
  23. Correct. Acquire pitching through trades. Controllable pitching.
  24. Wheeler was, at best, the 3rd best starter on a non-playoff team. IMO, not worth what he will get paid.
