  1. Honest question why do you think South Korea, German and China have enough tests? It is my understanding that the US is testing about 8500 per million people, South Korea just over 10,000, and Germany just under 18,000 again this is per million. I couldn't find stats on China but I am sure they are out there. I don't mean to defend the US, all seem like they are way too low.
  2. if there is a season and the season is reduced to say 60 - 100 games, luck and health will play a huge role in determining who is a seller and a buyer more than anything, if the Twins start out like last year it basically guarantees them a spot in the playoffs, if a team starts out slow the opposite. A few injuries, bullpen blows a few leads, or the starting pitching doesn't come though the Twins could be sellers at the deadline, not predicting this and definitely not hoping for this but with a short season just about anything could happen. (and in this scenario, the Twins could be in a great position to trade players like May, Cruz, Odo, Hill, and others)
  3. During the 2002-2003 SARS outbreak, it took about 20 months for a vaccine to be ready for testing in people. https://www.technologyreview.com/s/615331/a-coronavirus-vaccine-will-take-at-least-18-monthsif-it-works-at-all/
  4. I have friends that are teachers and they are being told to prepare for it (not all of them have heard this, but a few have, some are actually being told they expect in-school to start up in April or May(My wife's school for example) ) and they are not cancelling school, doing distance learning until then. And I am pretty sure there are no articles saying this, it would freak the public out even more, but IMO sending people back into the real world before there is a vaccine would just start it up again.
  5. The thing that people keep forgetting about St. Louis was the second peak in the graph. (I understand adding both peaks of St. Louis doesn't come close to Philly, but the second peak is just as real, and likely puts the country on hold until 2021) Also if anybody can find how the rest of the country reacted and what there numbers were that would be great, but I really haven't found anything.
  6. Schools are talking about the kids returning to school for the 2021-22 school year. So I can't imagine sports playing again until there is a vaccine.
  7. Based on Seth's data, I don't see how people can say they moved college pitchers too slow, I think it points out how how bad the Twins were at drafting really good college to top end major league pitchers, or to give them the benefit of doubt, how they were too successful to draft a few of the top end pitchers. On a side note, rushing pitchers that aren't great doesn't make them great.
  8. To me to give a starting spot to somebody besides Dobnak would be a mistake, unless of course he would have came to spring training all out of sorts, which it doesn't seem like he did. I said all off season, they had Berrios and Dobnak and the need for three more starters better than Dobnak, they resigned Odo and Pineda and went out and got Maeda. Bailey should take Pineda's early starts, and when he gets back the worst of Dobnak, Bailey and Maeda should go to the pen. At this point Smelzer and Thorpe are depth and bullpen options.
  9. Tough to compare these 3, first Moncada was the highlight of the Sale deal, so it was almost a must to sign him. But timing is always the factor in deals like these. Ask Yellich and Betts, and the two different outcomes of their decisions. IMO both teams are going to be happy with their deals.
  10. I am kind of confused, who is being blocked?
  11. This is what I quoted, NOT what I said. "I can deal with a .240 hitter with little power if he can play SS like it NEEDS to be played for a good team. And with the depth that the Twins lineup possesses, a below-average bat can be tolerated." Notice the - "little power" and "below-average bat" parts., I think that accurately portrays Adrianza As a Twins fan he better end up being better than Adrianza, no matter what position he ends up at, otherwise he will just be another prospect the Twins wasted an opportunity to trade super high on. I really, really hope he ends up with tons of power like you stated, but at this point I wouldn't go that far yet.
  12. So Lewis might be Adrianza? I am pretty sure nobody is going to be OK with that.
  13. Love the optimism, but expecting Gordon or Blankenhorn to contribute next year anything close to major league average is expecting quite a bit out of them.
  14. Some people were dead on for the results of this trade, others were way off. It was good reading
  15. Lets not forget that Hicks has only played 407 games in the last 4 years, and was terrible his first year in New York (which was 123 of those 407 games)
  16. What I want to them to say or be is honest, I want them to say what Harry Reid said about lying about Romney not paying taxes "Romney didn't win, did he?" I would like Gonzalez and the rest to admit they cheated and they won, simple. Edit: and i will add; they should say if people don't like it blame MLB for being too darn cheap to put an official in the dugout to stop things like this from happening.
  17. "Why all the questions about Twins pitching?" To me the answer to that question is how does the first two months go, last year the Twins started out Hot and pretty much stayed that way, but if they don't start out Hot do they have the pitching to play catch up? Last year at the end of May here is what their 5 starters looked like. Gibson: 5 - 2 - 4.08 Perez: 7 -2 - 3.71 Odo: 7 - 2 - 2.16 Berrios: 7 - 2 - 3.27 Pineda: 4 - 3 - 5.34 Can the fans expect that from the current projected starting rotation? No Hope? Yes That is the thing when looking at the 2019 season, things started out so well on the pitching side and they got out to such a big lead they were able to live with Perez and Gibson not being good in the second half. Odo comparing down closer to earth, Berrios struggling for a while and Pineda not being on the team. If they don't start out hot again, do they have to the pitching to make a run at the end of the season?
  18. I don't like Archer because that will be 11 more on payroll and that means they won't take on any salary at the deadline. I like Musgrove for that fact that he is locked up and they are short on starting pitchers signed beyond this year.
  19. So the pitchers available will be some of the pitchers that were available that the Twins didn't go get, and are 1 year older or closer to FA. I don't buy it and I hope I am wrong.
  20. Some might considering giving a starting rotation spot to Thorpe or Smeltzer dumpster diving. Even if the would have signed Wheeler, Odo and Madbum, signing this guy to a minor league contract as depth and lottery ticket wouldn't be a bad idea, giving him a major league contract is not a good idea at all.
  21. Changed it up a bit. Things COULD definitely GET crowded in the outfield no question about it. As of right now, it is not crowded at all, it is Buxton, Rosario, Kepler, Cave and Wade and a bunch of potential. I would not call that crowded. An injury to one of the main 3, Cave starting out slow again and potential not really ready and crow is the furthest thing from reality. (Lets hope it gets real crowded in a hurry)
  22. IMO, after watching him last year I think didn't his pitches were ready for a major league starting role, but they played well in short outings. So to me the options are sending him back to AA as a starter to work on his pitches and who knows how long that will take. Or put him in the major league bullpen and have Johnson work with him on improving his pitches. To me the second option is the best way waste an arm that throws 100 MPH in the minors, now the bad thing with doing is this is that clock will start to FA.
  23. I like Thorpe but crazy things would have to happen in spring training to give him the 4th spot over Dobnak, IMO.
  24. You asked "why didn't the Indians go get another starter instead of using these guys?" The answer was because they had a solid rotation (the guys I mentioned and Tomlin a few years back) and prospects in the minors, they didn't hand one of those pitchers you mentioned a spot in the starting rotation let alone two like the twins are, they all came up and earned it (This year they seem to be doing what the Twin are doing and that is putting both Plesac and Civale in the starting rotation, which as a Twins fan I hope end up like it does when teams go with two rookies in the starting rotation, not very good) I have always been on board with Dobnack as the number 5 starter, I think he came up last year and earned it, I don't think Thorpe, Smeltzer or Graterol did enough last year to earn a starting rotation spot. They still have work to do in my mind. Everything else you mentioned I agree with.
