    At their respective ages, NONE of these 3 has Father Time on their side. They are going to sign with an organization that has a chance to win in 2026. The only way they end up with the Twinkies is if no other team viewed as a contender wants them. Even then, they do this knowing their time in Minnesota would end when they are traded away at the deadline. Might just as well go with the kids and an assortment of castoffs because this team will not even think of or have a chance at contending until at least 2028, if even then.

    Why waste all the time and drum up the hopes of the dwindling fan base? This hiring could have been made the day after Baldelli was fired. We all knew it.

    Not to mention the trade bait that could be moved over the offseason. Lopez, Ryan, Jeffers, Wallner, Larnach could be moved. Outman is just a change of scenery guy who showed ZERO and should be DFA. Leaving plenty of roster space to the Twins to select 2-3 wildcards in the Rule 5.

    What's the worry? Of the Possible 40 man roster subtractions, 10 could be given the boot with no adverse effect to the team.

    Twinkies need to establish a list of players/prospects that they want. Not just taking whatever a trade partner will offer. Go after those identified prospects and be ready to walk away if those players cannot be obtained. Keep in mind, that although a three way trade adds complexity, it may get you what you want if the team that wants what you've got doesn't have what you want AND if the team with the player you want isn't interested in the player that you've got. It involves: creativity. research, imagination and diligence. Then

    Most probably the consideration of Rowson was to glean whatever the Twins could from him on the players on the current roster and to feel him out as to his giving consideration to returning to the organization in the position of Hitting Coach. The way to do that is to just have the opportunity to interview the guy and you don't get permission from his current employer to interview the guy unless you are offering a better position. It isn't so much WHO the actual Hitting Coach is, rather the "material" and coachability of the players they have to work with. Not much upside possible when almost 1/2 of the current 40 man roster could be cut loose without any negative effect on the team's upside.

    Let me just float the idea that some of the candidates for manager might just be interviewed as a means of garnering ideas in terms of knowledge of players, how other organizations develop a strategy for facing the Twins, or as an excuse to find out how content the interviewee is with their current position & organization. The interviewer needs to have the ability to determine whether the interviewee is: REALLY interested in the job or is just out to polish their interviewing skills, telling the interviewer what he wants to hear or is being open and honest about his opinions and philosophy.

    Jettison Tonkin and the other scrapheap arms on the 40 by non-tendering them to enable the team to protect our own prospects and to leave room to add talent through the Rule 5 draft. Offer him and others a minor league contract with a Spring Training invite.

    Let's be realistic. So far NEITHER Lopez or Ryan has proved to be the difference maker that they have been built up to be, expected top be or needed to be. NEITHER will be with the Twins after the 2026 trade deadline. What fans can look forward to is a 5 phase approach to/in 2026. A Select group of players will be allowed to leave = Hatch, Tonkin, Topa, Vasquez, Julien, Miranda, Outman, Keirsey, McCusker, Cabrera, Misiewicz, etc. A bunch of players will be added to the 40 man roster to protect them from the Rule 5 draft. Two or 3 players you never heard of will be taken in the Major League an Minor League portions of the Rule 5 Draft. Perhaps a trade will also take place here. Players will be traded in the off Season = Lopez, Larnach, Sands. Players will be traded away at the trade deadline = Ryan, Wallner, Jeffers, some of the kid outfielders and (possibly even Lewis and Lee). Don't know the when, where, how but Buxton will be gone at or after the last 2 stages. BTW = TV viewership will sink, attendance will shrink, interest in the team will hit bottom, the team's performance will tank, the St Paul Saints' attendance will flourish.

    My own experience in the workplace is that there are two types of manager. Either they are participially or dictators. At the same company with the same executive structure. With one I had almost immediate rapport. My participation was encouraged and respected. If the boss wanted to go a different direction than what I proposed, the reason was explained. This strengthened my understanding of his "style" and allowed me to grow as a person and in my capacity as an employee. In the other case, the dictator went against everything I suggested, leading me to discontinue making suggestions. I became his puppet and retreated into being a one dimensional employee.

    ANY Position Player, other than Catcher who can't hit .250 over the course of the season has no business being on a MLB 26 man roster and for that matter a MLB 40 man roster.

    ” I take personal responsibility for that” BUT Baldelli: Insisted on waiting for the long ball. Was totally in love with platooning. Pretty much never employed the bunt. Pretty much never had players steal bases. (Both improved as the season wore on). Baserunning skills were virtually non-existent. Pitchers were woeful at fielding their position and then making an ACCURATE throw to 1B. Never seemed “in sinc” with the Bullpen Coach when it came down to who to have warm up and who to bring in to pitch. Players with performance issues DID NOT IMPROVE those under performing skill areas as the season wore on. Did he provide enough of and the right kind of feedback to the PBO and the GM? Did he provide enough of and the right kind of feedback to his coaching staff? BESIDES:, Flavey needed a SCAPEGOAT to blame the team’s failure on to save his own job. (FOR THE MOMENT – He could be next)

    Lopez is traded in the off season as is Larnach. Ryan, Wallner and Jeffers go at the 2026 trade deadline. Gone in the off season by release, expired contract, trade: Hatch, Cabrera, Misiewicz, Topa, Tonkin, Vasquez, Julien, Miranda, Kiersey, McCusker, OUTman.

    Buxton sure fell apart down the stretch when all he could do was Strikeout or hit a HR. Had plenty of games to become a 30 -30 player but he could neither get a hit or take a walk. I would not be surprised to see him waive his no trade clause and get traded. BUT Please, for heaven's sake come up with a replacement other than OUTman or Keirsey.

    If you deal with the Giants, the Giants would have to OVERPAY Big Time to make up for the shellacking the Twins got in the 2019 trade for Sam Dyson and the 2021 trade for Shaun Anderson. Stay away from the Orioles also = remember the Jorge Lopez trade?

    Twinkies SHOULD be able to get multiple meaningful players back in return for: Lopez, Ryan, Jeffers, and even possibly something of value for Larnach, Wallner, and Sands. Between the current players in the organization who have to be elevated due to the Rule 5 PLUS the MULTIPLE PLAYERS the Twinkies select in the Rule 5 PLUS the players received in return for the above referenced 6 trade bait players PLUS an expected influx of MLB free agent cast-offs from other organizations PLUS MiLB free agents benefitting from the 6 year rule or are released PLUS any warm bodies from the Independent Leagues should nicely fill out the projected 17 player openings. Problem is the same people who orchestrated the 2025 mid season sell off MAY still be in place for off-season trades and signings.

    PLENTY of Openings on the 40 Man Roster = Lopez, Ryan, Sands, Topa, Tonkin, Cabrera, Hatch, Misiewicz, Jeffers, Vasquez, Julien, Miranda, OUTMAN, Larnach, Wallner, McCusker, Kiersey. That opens up 17 spots, less whatever might be needed for incoming players who are acquired for the 17 players who are traded/jettisoned. START SHOPPING !!

    And the list of current Twins players who will soon be FORMER Twins players in 2026 continues to GROW. Lopez, Ryan, Sands, Hatch, Tonkin, Topa, Misiewicz, Larnach, Wallner, Outman, Jeffers, Julian, Miranda, Gasper, McCusker, Kiersey, etc. Don't wait until the last minute = Say your "Goodbyes" ASAP. In 2026, The Minnesota Twins will ACTUALLY be the St Paul Saints. Ryan

    The approach by the FO for this offseason is to HAVE A PLAN and EXECUTE IT !! The FO needs to identify the current roster for players that are expendable. Instead of taking what trading partners are willing to offer; IDENTIFY players that will be a fit for the organization based on need and overall goals for player types and seek out opportunities that will yield that specific talent in return. Each player who is a member of the organization should have a timeline indicating when (and if) they will be ready for the MLB team. Most importantly, player projections need to be accurately and realistically put together at the middle minor league levels early enough that the resources of the upper minors and the major league levels are not wasted on players who do not "fit". In this way the organization isn't saddled with players at the MLB level who realistically shouldn't even be there - at least for this organization. SO: Identify the HOLES, Review every organization for who may be available, be open to 3 team trades, have an offseason plan for every current player to improve their areas of weakness.
