  1. Most evaluators love them some SS. The Twins likely did him a disservice by not playing him there more but Jorge Polanco may be a bubble guy.
  2. Appathy? Two years ago we would have been calling for his dismissal but we have grown accustomed to this level of incomepetence. Besides, when a business is in a nose dive, no one calls for the guy in the mail room to get canned, they lynch the CEO. Ryan and Gardenhire are the ones in the crosshairs and for good reasons. After all, Bruno didn't hire himself.
  3. I want at least two of Willingham, Doumt and/or Morneau de-cluttered from this mess of a roster but I guess I'm not for a salary dump at this time. Losing that salary is far from a promise that Ryan will re-invest it, and seriously, what could he really do with $67 million that he couldn't do with $60 million. Add another Kevin Correia I suppose. Hooray. Anyway, they can always wait unitl the offseason to move him and gamble that he finishes strong and brings back a better return. If they can't move him then, they can dump him and eat the salary.
  4. Yeah, ready to jump with a noose around his neck when he heard he might be moved from the contending Orioles to the bottom feeder Twins.
  5. I guess a page four generated while I had my window open for a half hour. You got me.
  6. I agree, put these guys on waivers when they are least likely to be claimed, it's the logical thing to do. I assume the people who said not to waive him August 1, are saying so because he was injured. The commisioner's office needs to approve any trades of injured players. I'm not sure about the rules regarding waivers, but are we sure you can even waive an injured player? I'm not sure you can, as the players union likely would object seeing as you could screw with a guy's service time if he clears and is placed in the minors.
  7. Surely the Twins weren't the only team to evaluate Asian talent soley by using Youtube.
  8. Is Nick Kingham out of the question? #9 prospect? Probably.
  9. Makes sense. I guess that would be the logical choice considering how well he pitched there prior to his three start demotion. The Rochester fans are surely thrilled.
  10. I was on the fence. Now I'm off. Bowden is a crazy old blowhard who likes to hear himself ramble. Logic tells me it is best to do the opposite of what he advocates. Demote him back to Ft. Myers.
  11. Tim Wood and Luis Perdomo have been released. Perdomo has been an utter train wreck. Wood hasn't pitched since May. I'm not sure what prompted the Wood realease, was he ready to come back but the Twins had nowhere to put him? Does Perdomo getting his walking papers mean May (Meyer?!) will get bumped to help Rochester for their improbable playoff run?
  12. I think we are overestimating the challange of hitting right-handed vs. right-handed pitchers. Sure there will be an adjustment but it's not like his swing would need to be reworked. It would simply be adjusting to a different angle and picking up the pitch from a different release point. I don't see how it would be all that different than learning how to hit off a side-armed pitcher or a pitcher that often changes arm angles and is good at hiding the ball until it is released.
  13. That headline was a tease. I thought we were going to discuss putting Hicks back on the mound.
  14. Why make our wives clean multiple socks? That's thoughtless.
  15. Wrong, it's a furry party. Learn the lingo.
  16. Dick: "Other than those two starts he's kind of done what James Shields has done, not as effectively, but he has eaten innings." Twins pitching standards summed up nicely.
  17. Maybe if the Twins were able to move both Willingham and Doumit. So probably not.
  18. I think he's talking about Kubel.
  19. Speechless. I seriously hope this is a joke. We'll see how similar these rebuilds look come December when the Cubs have big money offers out to Robinson Cano and Jacoby Ellsbury.
  20. While they certainly could be patted on the back for their aggressive approach to putting a competitive team back on the field, I didn't pat them on the back. I simply stated they are different than the Twins in the fact that reports have them being agressive this offseason which would match their agressive approach to international free agency. How is that even debatable? Additionally, why do I have the feeling that if Terry Ryan signed 4 of the top 30 international prospects you would be throwing that around as proof that he is the best GM in the league?
  21. External rebuilds are going to be poor comprables I'd imagine. The Twins have a strong system as the Cubs do, but by all accounts, the Cubs plan on being big players in free agency and they are not shy about chasing every international player of any variaty worth a damn. Teams like the A's and Rays continually rebuild by moving players at their peak and by taking advantage of every and any statistical tool available to make sure they are as informed as possible. Spycake is right, the only rebuild comparasion is probably past Twins teams.
  22. The Pirates just got Marlon Byrd and John Buck from the Mets for their #20 overall prospect and a PTBNL. Unless that PTBNL is a surprising stud, it looks like the Pirates didn't have to give up much to fix thier OF issues. Byrd is only owed $130K the rest of the season. I'm guessing there might not be a huge payoff for Willingham considering what the Pirates gave up for Byrd and considering Morneau is still on the Twins roster.
  23. Yeah, looks like the Twins are in show off mode. I like it.
