  1. Well I don't want MadBum at all, so does that mean I'm in the Bargaining or Acceptance stage?
  2. Why would they do this? They know the pizza guy will deliver right to the room right?
  3. My father spent some time in Korea for some educational cultural enrichment thing, I forget the details, but you can be sure I still got LG Twins cap! Not sure why it's pink though.
  4. I was kind of skeptical about that Fangraphs article detailing the Benintendi/Rodriguez pot sweetening angle, and I still am a bit, but thinking about it more, any team looking to deal with the Red Sox would really have them over the barrel. Next year Price will be a 10/5 guy with the Sox so he could veto any trade. If they want to get rid of him, it's basically now or never.
  5. For one you're only on the hook for three years with Price instead of 5 years for Bumgarner. Also, despite Price's warts, he's been better than Bumgarner each of the last three seasons. I also have significant concerns that Bumgarner will be able to even be league average in terms of strikeout percentage upon a move to the AL. Tom's piece the other day has me concerned it's going to drop much more significantly than other pitchers making the league switch.
  6. Yes, even though I still like the idea that Price still has a shot to lead the rotation, the potential of that second piece being a rotation upgrade is equally if not more exciting. Which, maybe you just cut out a step and take the underrated Eduardo Rodriguez instead. He was really good last year.
  7. Yes please. If it was Price and Benintendi, I might even consider keeping Rosario and then try to flip the cheaper, more controllable and bigger named Benintendi for an even bigger pitching prize.
  8. If somebody could explain why Caleb Smith strikes out so many batters when his stuff looks so bland and why Alcantara strikes out so few batters when his stuff looks so nasty that would be great.
  9. They hit plenty of HR, and even if that was the number one priority, Rooker and Wiel are just as capable of going deep. Though I've always liked Eddie and think he's probably a good clubhouse guy, I thnk the Twins need somebody who takes good at bats and gets on base regularly.
  10. I might take Matt Barnes in lieu of a prospect If Boston is doing a quasi rebuild, he's not going to them much good with only two years of control left.
  11. He definitely wouldn't be my top trade target, but his strikeout rate is still elite, which to me means there's still ample room to dream on in Game 1. I maybe see if there is a fun comprise with Chris Sale first though.
  12. Coach or first class back to Minnesota? Just make a decision already!
  13. I'd also like to know why he lost 1.5 MPH on his velocity last year. I might still be interested though.
  14. I hope the team isn't spending too much time focusing on pitching if the pitching either isn't a fit or isn't interested. As much as this team needs pitching, if the top two pitchers weren't an option and the next two pitchers may prefer to not come here, I don't want them to fruitlessly make a big show about it when there is still a 3B out there who may be interested. Also, I bet the Dodgers aren't actually interested in Bumgarner, they're a pretty analytically inclined front office and Bumgarner doesn't seem to be an analytically approved pitcher. I bet they're talking to him to try to get Ryu to come back at a discount. I made a joke about it last week, but now I'd like to see the Twins try to go and overpay for Blake Snell.
  15. No idea what he wants but those no trade lists often consists of the teams he and his agent think will try to trade for him. Before the season even ended people were predicting he’d go to the Atlanta to be closer to home. Since they’re out, who knows?
  16. He doesn’t throw an off speed pitch or even really a breaking pitch, just a four seamer and a splitter. I can’t see that ever having sustained success as a starter.
  17. This story about him hacking a snake apart with an ax after it interrupted his cattle wrangling, which he started practicing because he was homesick for North Carolina makes me think it’s not us, it’s him. https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2294745-sports-illustrated-story-reveals-absurd-details-about-madison-bumgarners-life.amp.html
  18. If Bumgarner has to have his arm twisted to come here, pass. I was already on the fence about him, I’d prefer not to repeat the Ricky Nolasco, “I’d rather be elsewhere” fiasco. Ryu or bust for me. Also Rich Hill.
  19. I'll take Mussolini on the mound over the namby-pamby high contact guy Crash was describing.
  20. I'd like to know if Falvey specifically mentioned those names, or if Park mentioned these guys and Falvey agreed they were possibilities. I wonder because I don't like that Graterol isn't included in that list.
  21. The left side of the Twins infield. If I'm paying good money, I want starting pitchers who can get outs all on their own. Which is why I'm starting to lean toward signing Rich Hill. Please everybody, don't kill me, I have a family!
  22. *****Moderator Note***** Please stay on topic, the article presented three specific free agent scenarios. Unsolicited economic lessons only serve to steer conversation away from this interesting case study.
  23. I'm not really high on any of the pitchers available, I guess I like Ryu a bit more than Bumgarner, but getting either would just feel like more of a moral victory to me. I might like option #2 actually, as I do want starters who can miss bats and both Hill and Smyly have a history of doing so. Aside from having a big name, I don't know that I'd buy into much if any performance upgrade from Bumgarner over Hill, at least in 2020. Of course that bat-missing caveat would make me want to stay away from Kintzler, can we swap him out for Betances instead? Oh, burying the lede clearly, Donaldson sure would be fun!
  24. With this team’s infield defense I would t be surprised if the team isn’t considering Keuchel at all.
