  1. I don't give May a single moments thought unless one of my friends tells me the Twins screwed him over. IN that case I remind them of his career WHIP. Time for Trevor to put on the big boy pants. Stop Tweeting and playing video games and stay on the field. I am getting tired of people making his case. How about he prove himself first? The clock is ticking. Dude is 28 now. Enough already. Enough. I hope he does well, but I am tired of certain people I know bemoaning his plight with this organization. Sorry to vent it here
  2. Don't forget Pineda
  3. Excellent post and it points to a problem the Twins had with Latin players during the past regime. In fact, it was Reusse who criticized the Twins for not doing a good job in that area about 5 years ago, I think we are past that now, but the reside might still exist with Sano. Both parties need to clear this up in order for him to truly reach his potential. And no, I don't expect him to be an MVP caliber guy. I just want to see what he can do in 140+ games
  4. And don't throw everyone who thinks he needs to be conditioned better into that batch because that just doesn't make any sense. In fact, unless I'm missing something, I haven't seen anyone state that his weight or conditioning caused that. The hamstring issue is a very real thing that can be exacerbated by lack of proper conditioning and I believe we might be witnessing that right now.' Would it hurt him any to be more focused on conditioning and diet during the offseason, because that is all anyone is really saying.
  5. I would just like to see 140 games out of him one of these years and so would the Twins, Which is why Falvey chimed in about his conditioning. I don't think that is unfair at all
  6. This has been coursing through my brain the last few days. Can't say I am too upset about that
  7. I'm just hoping he can play more than 116 games one of these years
  8. I get the glass half full approach, but our playoff run will be three losses and to the golf course if we have to face NY. For those of you insisting an ace would have made a difference in the multiple series we played against them: 1. We had one and 2. We averaged under three runs in the last twelve playoff games we played against them. Sorry, but if you can't score 3 runs, you aren't going to win. Period. This runs way deeper than having one really good pitcher.
  9. Amen to the underlined. That is essentially saying, "Let Miguel be Miguel" I this the proscribed approach that the Twins should take? Just let him do what he does because that is just how he is?
  10. As far as the first paragraph goes, you are overthinking and trying to hard to give a guy the benefit of the doubt. This is the big boy league where they play for pay. Why is it that someone needs to break out pie charts, slide rules and cite medical journals to determine how much EXACTLY this affects his play. DO you believe a player's conditioning has NO EFFECT on performance?
  11. Let me make it perfectly clear that the weight isn't as much of an issue as the conditioning. Thrylos used the example of Aaron Judge. He is actually listed 282lbs. I wouldn't mind Sano being the weight he is now if he were built like Judge or Stanton. The difference is, he is starting to look like Delmon Young. Finally, this stuff about "we don't know that he doesn't work hard during the off season" doesn't wash with me. I look at the guy and I don't see a guy who looks all that fit for the job he is supposed to do. If he were a lineman in the NFL that would be something else. He should be built more like a tight end than a lineman. Every body tells a story. If any of you saw me and then saw me five months later after I spent that time working out, training meaningfully and eating right I would look different to you than if I ate anything I wanted and worked out 3 or 4 days a week. The truth is people CAN tell if guys do meaningful off season conditioning from those who don't. I can't understand why that concept is difficult for some to grasp.
  12. The play of the team will dictate the comments. I, for one, read and participated in the gameday threads during the losing streak and to a person I thought that thread maintained a degree levity, I have not spoken a word about Rosario. If he hits .270/25/85 then he has done his job. There are expectations for all players and when they don't meet them people will talk about it. There isn't a person here that doesn't root for this team so we all have that in common. I try to look at that rather than the differences we have
  13. Yes it is.
  14. Until Sano actually gets himself to a fitness level similar to or at least approaching a Giancarlo Stanton, Jose Abreu, Aaron Judge, etc,...etc...how can anyone (Sano included) say his physical state has no bearing on the way he plays baseball? The..."he's just a big guy and that is that" deal is old with me. I was one of those people not very long ago, but I am convinced there is something to it as far as his conditioning goes. I see it through my own personal experience as a person who has drifted in and out of shape. A lot can be accomplished and a lot can get undone in five months. If Sano half-assed it for five months, ate and drank however he wanted that isn't a good thing. While we don't have the luxury of surveillance anyone can see he isn't on par with many of his contemporaries with regard to conditioning. Just take a look at some of the opponents we have faced in the last couple of weeks and see their young players.
  15. Yes, and by the same token I have come to find there are people who assert there isn't a connection (as in none at all since it "cannot be proven") between his weight and how he hits or fields. These would be two ends of the spectrum.
  16. And if one of the three outfielders are injured you have what we have now. So what you are saying just doesn't apply to the present. His best attribute as a hitter is he can walk, but has no speed, very little power and he is one of the worst outfielders in the game. In almost 1,700 plate appearances he has a 4.6 WAR. The guy is lucky he's still in baseball.
  17. Funny how one of the favorite phrases thrown around by Twins veterans these last several years is "not tryin' to do too much" Heaven forbid you get caught doing that!
  18. This is more about his career trajectory than it is diagnosing his declined production.
  19. I am not saying it is THE reason. He's somewhere near the tipping point if he has not reached it yet.
  20. More than fair it is LOGICAL
  21. He had a titanium rod put in his shin this off season, has had Tommy John surgery and he has been missing time lately due to a variety of injuries. He is 24 years old and he has gained quite a lot of weight over the last several years. I cannot understand why it's totally baseless to question this and that his overall physical well-being cannot be connected to performance. It makes no sense on many levels. He has to be in better condition than he is. He was drafted as a shortstop and has evolved into a guy who will become a DH exclusively in short order if he isn't careful. The comparison to Aaron Judge is like comparing apples to trout. Judge has a completely different body than Sano and has muscular definition. Sano is bottom heavy, with a big ass. Judge has plenty of muscle density and Sano obviously does not. Emmit Smith was 5' 9" and listed at 216lbs. I guarantee you he didn't need to lose a pound because he had such a muscular physique and was very limber as opposed to my 52 year old ass. I am an inch taller and a few pounds lighter, but I am a whole lot more restricted than I was last summer when I bought a condo and did a lot of remodeling. I was about 20 pounds lighter and I feel a HUGE difference from then to now. I intend on getting back into the condition I was at this time about a year and a half ago. People can let themselves go and it can have a profound effect on a number of things you can do physically. I don't care who doesn't see that or understand that it. It is reality. You can see it or choose not to. Just how much this extra weight hampers Sano isn't for me to say. Would it hurt him to lift weights, run and eat smart all winter so as to be in peak performance? Absolutely not and that is all anyone is saying. I did not once call him lazy. I have been far from lazy as I have gained the weight. My focus is in other places and that was likely the same with him. As with a lot of young men he needs guidance.
  22. Well, you guys convinced me. Sano is just fine in his current state
  23. Yes, but I came over to the other side this year. He put on a few too many. I'm 5' 10" 210 and people don't think I am that heavy. I feel a big difference between 210 and the low 190s where I need to be.
