  1. I can't help but think of how the Twins celebrated after coming from behind and winning the central on the final day of the season. They were already in the playoffs, and there they were celebrating like the just won the World Series. I thought it was silly. I didn't get it. Then the playoffs start and they forgot to showup. This organization seems to think that's the ultimate goal...to win the Central. In the end, it just isn't that big a deal.
  2. That is a seriously underwhelming list of pitchers.
  3. Sounds like another Nick Blackburn
  4. Are you kidding? He plays first base. He's a middling prospect that has hardly made a mark. This is a silly argument. There's a reason why he doesn't have much value trade wise. He's not on anybody's radar.
  5. Context? He's had 7 years of below average production for his position in the minors. He's get hot for 40 some games and now he's a star? He's closer to Stahoviak than he is to Morneau. He's put up video game stats the last month and a half @ AAA, not the last year and a half. He's worth more to the Twins than other teams would be willing to pay for him.
  6. In more than 2,446 minor league at bats, his his hitting line is .271/.362/.812. That's why he has little trade value. September callup means pretty much nothing. But if you are going to point it out as a positive, It's only fair to also mention how badly he struggled with the Twins early this season.
  7. Mike Lamb was awful
  8. Finding only the silver linings in this roster isn't facing reality.
  9. Debate? What debate? He can't even make a mark at Triple A.
  10. Let's just hurry up and close the Nishi chapter. Obviously, this guy has no future in the Majors or with the Twins. On another note, hindsight being 20/20, the Valencia trade is just one more example of the Twins selling a guy when his value is at it's lowest point. These guys haven't been on the forward thinking end of trade in who knows how long.
  11. What's to like about this list? Add it all up and it's still the worst starting rotation in the AL.
  12. A good rule of thumb...is to disregard anything and everything written by Walters.
  13. This is a seriously worthless thread...
  14. The current state of the Twins isn't nearly as rosy as you make it seem.
  15. Right on I want to believe there is some sort of plan in place, but I'm not entirely sure. To be fair to TR, the hole that this franchise has dug for itself is so damn big, that I think his options were pretty limited for this season. I think he did a pretty good plugging some holes on the cheap, not including the pitching staff. Not selling last year was a big mistake and an opportunity missed. Other teams would have done it, but this team lacks balls and can't seem to think big enough for that. And, of course, BS was still running the show.
  16. There is no silver lining to be found in this guy. Stop looking...
  17. I can't wait until someone chimes in and defends Blackie this time around. Something like.....'when healthy, Blackburn is a solid fourth or fifth starter on a good team. He just needs to settle down and find his groove, and he will be just like he was back in 08 and 09.'
  18. That's a fine idea, except you have to identify a team that wants to take both guys, and be willing to pay for them. That eliminates most teams.
  19. De Vries and Deduno are stop gaps, nothing more than that. Duensing has proven to be solid out of the bullpen, and not good enough to be a starter. Almost every name on that list is totally underwelming. This team needs to go outside the organization for real pitching help.
  20. I don't think the Twins will be in the mix for any FA pitcher that would require 100 mil contract. I'll believe it when it happens.
  21. I can't see any team, other than the Twins, offering even a 1 year deal for Pavano.
  22. You are trying waaay too hard to defend him. At this point, he's worthless. Actually, he's less than worthless because we are still committed to another year of this garbage.
  23. He's healthy, and he's the worst starter in the Majors. He hasn't been decent for going on 3 years, which may as well be 30 years. And even if he does have one start where he doesn't get ripped, you know damn well he will get pummeled in the next start. Seriously, who gets hit more viciously than this guy?
