  1. Let’s not get the offensive drums beating just yet. 5 or 6 hits. A walk. A balk. Very timely hitting today. The building blocks of offense were still atrocious. Just bunched a few together tonight.
  2. If the twins have a gazillion pitchers, why is Pressley pitching in every game?
  3. I just want to say ... I turned to my buddies during the game (section 118 row 9) and said “I’m gonna call it. Mitch is gonna Hit a bomb to left here in this AB”. Boom. You’re welcome.
  4. It's going to be a lot of fun 'round these parts if Buxton puts up an April / May '18 similar to Aug / Sept '17.
  5. How sick is this going to be if the Gibson we saw at the end of last year is the Gibson we see all year? 10 game SSS to be sure, but it *did* correlate directly with a change from firing sinkers all day to many more 4 seamers up in the zone. Barring injury, guys like Romero and Gonsalves are going to have to force their way into the show. Instead of forcing their way in on the likes of Turley and Santiago.
  6. The 2017 Rays would’ve done better with Rosario Kepler and Buxton manning their outfield!
  7. Startups are often valued higher before they make their first dollar. As soon as you have dollars in the bank you have a track record. If that track record isn’t unicorn level growth good luck. Much the same with pitchers. Gonsalves is probably a #4 as his most likely outcome in a reasonable / slightly optimistic viewpoint. Maybe he finds it and becomes a 2/3. Maybe he struggles some but latches on as a 4/5 depth guy with occasional flashes. Maybe he washes out within a couple years. Maybe his arm falls off throwing a slider next week. Lamenting that Lynn might cost us chargois and a future 2nd round pick, when somebody who is a consensus top handful prospect in our org would be considered a really good draft choice if he has the career of Lynn or Cobb (because he made it to the show and had even moderate success there), seems silly to me.
  8. lol And not in a “haha funny” way. More in a “if I don’t laugh, I’ll weep instead” way.
  9. He was one of the best offensive catchers to ever play the game. At most I’ll grant you that “offensive juggernaut” _might_ need to be qualified with “as a catcher” But that’s as far as I’d go.
  10. I suspect we’ll dumpster dive again in the hopes of finding a diamond in the rough. And in the meantime, we can always fall back on “there’s always next year”
  11. If you move Lewis to outfield, who is he gonna replace? Your 2020 MVP order is gonna be Buxton, Kepler, Rosario.
  12. Right now I just want Yu to sign with *anybody* and open up the logjam that is the freezing ice box stove season of MLB. Obviously prefer he signs with us, but this no-news-cycle is growing old.
  13. Also. I didn't even cheer when it happened. Diggs caught it, I went GET OUTTA BOUNDS GET OUTT... WAIT ... WTF 20, 10, 5 *blackout* *relive favre INT* *relive Walsh wide left* *relive 41-donut* *relive Gary Anderson wide le... nope not quite that one* *wake up* Woah, we just won? We aren't the soul crushers, but the soul crushed. What is happening? *queue everson griffen best interview ever*
  14. First walkoff TD with 0:00 left in the 4th QTR
  15. I think if I was moving to a foreign country, say China, and there were 30 chinese employers spread across the entire land mass of China, who were willing to pay me large sums of money (even if it's small relative to what he'd get on the open market) to come work for them, I would probably be looking for as much detail as I can. As somebody who's never been to China, I would certainly love to hear about the facilities I'd be working in, the city & surrounding areas, what the onboarding process would look like. None of that seems out of line.
  16. Meant August 5th. Guess it was 1st in AL in runs, not MLB.
  17. I know, I know, the narrative is supposed to be "Surprising Twins become first team to lose 100 wins and make the playoffs" - followed by "Damn Yankees. Twins season still a huge success, despite losing (again) to NY" Instead, since journalistic excellence requires folks to go back and try and figure out how they didn't see this coming, lets talk about what the narrative will be once the Twins hoist the trophy (and not one of the "participation" variety). Without further ado, I present to you the 5 reasons we should have seen this coming: Since Oct 5th, the Twins lead the MLB in runs The outfield defense is anchored by the best fielder in baseball, who himself is bracketed by two CFs Lineup Depth - while the Twins only had one batter hit .300, and only one hit 30 HR, they were 4th in the league in OPS, 4th in the league in runs, T-4th in average .. they had guys who could beat you up and down the lineup. As the team wearing the "not supposed to be here" title belt, they played with the least amount of pressure Molitor called for bunts at critical / crucial times which as we know always works out. What did I miss? What is your top 5?
  18. I just have a feeling. The twins are gonna jump out early and put up a lot of runs. The twins bullpen will make it interesting, but I'm feeling like a 10-8 ballgame. 11-8 if Mauer's double gets rightly called fair this year.
  19. Pretty much sealed at least a game 163 last night. I really don't see a 8-1 or 9-0 stretch. Even 7-2 is unlikely - but if TEX or ANA rattle off a 7-2 stretch we just have to go 3-5 for a 163. I'm pretty sure a random selection of TDers could win 3 of the 5 remaining games against the Tigers (they are 4-18 this month).
  20. In addition to the Twins having a really soft schedule to close out the season, a lot of the teams that are chasing us play each other. So the number of teams realistically in the race will dwindle just on account of - only one team can win those games. 21 to go, 2 game lead. After losing 103 last year (nevermind the heater we ended the season on - winning 3 of 4!!). Crazy game, this baseballing is.
