Minnesota Twins manager Rocco Baldelli was livid over a ridiculous overturned call on a play at the plate in extra innings of today's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Here are some of Baldelli's comments as well as several highlights of the play, a reaction from a Twins fan on the call and discussion on the home plate collision rules. -
The Minnesota Twins kept the Blue Jays on their heels again Saturday, taking a 7-3 victory. Jorge Polanco provided a pair of run scoring hits with two outs and Jose Miranda hit another home run. On the minor league side, Cody Laweryson pitched three shutout innings of relief for Wichita, including a strikeout of Fernando Tatis Jr., who is in Double-A on a rehab assignment.

An unfamiliar looking Twins lineup jumped all over old friend Jose Berrios but Toronto battled back and the Twins lineup failed to take advantage of several opportunities. In the end it was Jake Cave, Tim Beckham and Nick Gordon who put the pressure on and took advantage of some misplays to walk it off. Crazy game. Also included in tonight's recap are minor league highlights of Michael Helman, Jermaine Palacios, Matt Wallner, Simeon Woods Richardson, DaShawn Keirsey Jr., Pat Winkel and Mikey Perez. Down on the farm, Caleb Hamilton hit his 11th home run for the Saints but it was another rough night for Jordan Balazovic and (to a lesser degree) Ronny Henriquez. Louie Varland pitched great for Wichita, though. Edouard Julien hit another home run for the Wind Surge while Anthony Prato delivered the game-winning hit. Also, Brooks Lee and Tanner Schobel made their professional debuts with the FCL Twins. View full video

The Minnesota Twins lost a tight one in San Diego to drop the series Sunday. Luis Arreaz hit his first home run off a left-handed pitcher and Jose Miranda added his 10th homer of the year but that was all scoring offense the lineup could muster. Down on the farm, Jermaine Palacios hit a walk-off grand slam for the Saints, both Simeon Woods Richardson and Blayne Enlow had nice (albeit short) outings for the Wind Surge and Aaron Sabato hit two home runs for the Kernels. For the Saints, Jermaine Palacios hit a big game-tying homer before Tim Beckham provided a walk-off single. Ronny Henriquez pitched four shutout innings out of the bullpen and topped out at 100 mph. Wichita had a blowout victory led by homers from Andrew Bechtold, Christian Encarnacion-Strand and Edouard Julien. Sawyer Gipson-Long had a quality start for the Turbo Tubs tonight. Yunior Severino hit another home run and has an OPS north of 1.100 so far in July for the Kernels. That and more in tonight's Twins System Recap.

The Minnesota Twins need to address the bullpen at the MLB trade deadline. What kind of a trade can they make? The Chicago Cubs have a few attractive relief arms but expect there to be plenty of competition. We may see more demand than supply when it comes to bullpen pieces this deadline. MLB.com writers put together a mock trade that has both David Roberston and Scott Effross coming to Minnesota but the price is high. Let me know what you think about this deal. View full video
