  1. Congratulations to Dusty Baker on his 2,000th win as a manager!

    Quite the milestone!

  2. I do think that a pitcher will be the first called up, but I could see a scenario where Correa is healthy and Lewis is knocking down the door to be brought up and then Buxton gets hurt. I could see them calling Lewis up to fill in. I'm not sure that I'm necessarily excited about that, but if he's really beating down the door to be called up, I think it makes some sense.
  3. This is the type of team that I had hoped to see but didn't expect to see. Hopefully this continues because this was a fun series.
  4. and you were right to do so! That's totally fair! Self awareness lags behind what others already know!
  5. I've watched this gif so many times that I'm starting to question my own sanity.
  6. I think they go hand in hand. And they both take time to consistent at. And one will breed the other in the process. In other team sports, great chemistry will often beat superior talent. That said, I think that the only real answer is... Yes.
  7. I'd be very interested in an update at the 40 game mark. Especially if the starters continue their trend and offense continues to warm up. The quarter mark of the season is also a reasonable place to look at reasonable trends and what direction this team is really headed in.
  8. Nice write-up! Interesting in-depth look at how the FO identifies a player they think they can get value out of both on the acquisition front and on the field. I think you see that with Joe Ryan as well. It doesn't seem like they're doing anything drastic, just minor tweaks or pitch mixes to make a guy more effective.
  9. Door knob. I apparently neglected to include a key word there.
  10. Nothing like sweeping a homestand to brighten the mood!

  11. No luck on the aforementioned door knob, either? That'd be quite the collectors set to snag all three items!
  12. Great to see the K:BB ratio improvement on Royce. Especially with the layoff that he's had, that's a very encouraging sign. Hopefully that continues as pitchers adapt to that. Also great to see Miranda starting to settle in. With the increased expectations coming into this season, it's not unreasonable to put a little extra pressure on yourself.
  13. Kepler... suddenly en Fuego!

  14. Kepler's approach is, and always has been, good. It's quite baffling that he doesn't hit for a higher average because of that. Some of that is trying to hit into the shift, but that can't be all of it. Weak contact adds to that. One thing that I noticed in Sunday's game is that you could see him trying to go up the middle or to leftfield. If he's going to have any sustainable success, he's got to use all fields more. Add in harder contact and he can be more like the hitter he was 2019.
  15. It probably depends on the player, but they've only got 5 off days between now and the AS break. With the shortened spring training and condensed schedule, I think you'll see a lot of relatively odd resting schedules for players. I wouldn't be surprised if that happened for most of the season.
  16. You mean that you don't have Clint Eastwood's Greatest Hits? I thought for sure that you'd have an original pressing somewhere!
  17. Hotdish. Endless supplies of hotdish!!! I think the real answer to this depends on how this season turns out. If he stays healthy and has a productive season, I would think that he'd certainly try to capitalize on that. If he has a down year, maybe trouble staying on the field, then the odds probably increase quite a bit that he stays for at least another year under his current deal.
  18. I'm not forgetting about Arraez at all. I've mentioned that point in other comments as well. It was a pick your poison situation and LaRussa went after the RH batter instead of rolling the dice against the LH batter with the bases loaded. I think that's an entirely defensible position. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap.
  19. I actually appreciate this aspect. As a fan, I want to see the best players go head to head. Even better when the game is on the line. One player has to lose in that situation. Thankfully, Hendricks is the one that lost this time.
  20. Sano and Polanco have had a day off each. Correa has had two. Kepler is the only Twin to have played in all 16 games.
  21. I'm not really trying to take anything away from him. He crushed it. It probably ends up in the Twins bullpen without the aid of the wind and that's still an impressive shot.
