  1. Love the write-up. I'd also love to see the Twins go to New York and take 2 or 3. I'm sure there are no statistics to back this up, but it would be like a "statement" series where we could show the Yankees that we aren't intimidated, and that, right now, we're better than they are.
  2. Totally agree with this. Not sure why you'd think Kepler has more upside than Rosario. As far as the Latin thing, watching Kevin Gorg interview Rosario after the game, with a translator present, it made me wonder if Twins Daily has any Spanish-speaking writers who could really improve the reporting on a team that has so many Latinos who'd much prefer to be interviewed in Spanish. I would think this would be a gold mine of information about these players and the team to which the mainstream press does not have access (sorry "Access").
  3. Dave Goltz. We could sure use him now.
  4. Ron Washington. yup, that one, too.
  5. If we can win some easy games against teams that have nothing to play for, like SD, TOR and DET, we can probably get 6-7 innings from some starters, and pitch the back end of the bullpen like we did last night. This gives our top bullpen arms much needed extra rest. This makes playing 18 games in 19 days much easier, and alleviates the potential negative effects from the team's weakest link. Add to this, that if Mejia is decent, and Sano comes back strong, we're suddenly looking like a pretty deep squad. I agree with John, that the Yankees aren't particularly scary, and I would love nothing more than to beat them in the WC game.
  6. Did he whup you on the basketball court? Or was it at a bar? (queue Chief response)
  7. Joe Maddon almost lost the Cubs the WS last year with some very questionable, if not downright terrible, tactical decisions. But I believe nobody talks about it much because he's considered to be very good at a bunch of other things, including leading a team and building team unity. It's hard to find someone who ticks all of the boxes. It does seem like this team is resilient and together. Not sure what happened in 2016, but Molly must be doing something right in that way this year. I wonder whether and to what extent the FO gives any guidance in tactics during the season. Molly definitely does some odd things with the lineup. As for the bullpen, there are times I'm bemused at his decisions (as are many on this site), but he hasn't been given the best staff to work with. He'd probably look a lot smarter with Cleveland's staff.
  8. I hope these guys have forgotten all about that 17-0 game . . . .
  9. We can and we will complain about that! It's a birth right of Twins fans.
  10. How about Belisle? I never thought he'd work as a closer. But he came in for the third straight day, struck out two, and got a one-pitch pop-out. I think he's already earned his salary this year.
  11. I'm hoping our boys are thinking more about catching the Yankees than holding off the rest of the pack. It was a great run for this Royals team. Let's end it for them.
  12. I know we complain about Molitor's lineups sometimes, but why is Moustakas batting 6th? He has 35 homers and is second on the team in OPS. Wouldn't you want him batting 4th every night?
  13. Just looked at a map of the smoke, and KC is right in the middle of it. It's probably worse up here in the mountains, but it's still heading east from here and disbursing across the plains.
  14. We're breathing smoke from the Montana fires all the way down here in New Mexico. I wonder if Kansas City's air is also affected. Heard other stories from friends about people stuck in Florida, deciding whether to try to drive, or worried about getting on the road, getting stuck in traffic, running out of gas and then getting hit by the hurricane while on the road. Here's hoping the path of this monster misses Florida as much as possible.
  15. Out of curiosity, I just went and read about six articles by Souhan about Mauer spanning from about 2011-May 2017. Souhan is incredibly harsh on Mauer and his "so-called" bilateral leg weakness, $184 million owed to him, refusal to play a different position for the good of the team . . . I could go on, but it makes me angry.
  16. This is really the sad part of this. And I think this was Gleeman's main point. Now that we've publicly labeled Sano as allegedly having a weight problem that allegedly the Twins FO is concerned about, for the rest of his career he may be hearing about it every time he gets hurt or looks slow or slumps. I hope that's not the result. It's discussions like this that may help avoid this result.
  17. If Grossman injured a ray, will he be charged with a crime?
  18. Is this the guy who sells sea shells by the seashore?
  19. So was there some sort of diet emergency here, where they had to get the story out to the public before the offseason? If it helps, I promise not to feed him.
  20. True, but we do know that it wasn't breaking news that had to be published before someone else scooped the story . . . right?
  21. I'd have waited until the offseason, talked to people about what happened during the season, I would talk to people about the fitness and diet regimen for the offseason going forward, and maybe even talk to Sano about what he's doing going forward and what he's done in the past. I think that would make the whole topic relevant, and would not make it seem like I just decided it's a good time to pick on a young athlete who's probably really frustrated that he can't play right now. This is not breaking news that had to be published before someone else scooped the story.
  22. I have enjoyed reading the article and the comments about this topic, and I think it's an important topic. It would be nice if Souhan could participate in this, but judging from his last blog or article (whatever it was), he'd likely get banned by the moderators for gratuitous ad hominem attacks.
